Keeping a workout journal: Anyone else do this...

I have always used a training book to moniter my progress in the gym. Up until recently a sample page in my log would look something like this...

    1/15/04
    Chest
    Incline Barbell- 225x10
    245x8
    275x6
    315x4
Now since we're no longer in the stone age I figured I would change my old ways. This is what my log looks like now...

    1/23/04
    Chest New lifts
    Incline Barbell-225x10 225x10
    245x8 245x8
    275x6 275x7
    315x4 315x5

*Not claiming a major discovery here or anything but just wondering how many others keep their training logs like this. I think its a good mental tool for beating lifts.

im sure you know what your doing..........

...but i always see clueless little boys with their notebook and pen in the gym.....writing down something after ever set........
Strength does not come from winning. Your struggles develop your strengths. When you go through hardships and decide not to surrender, THAT IS STRENGTH

My workout log is the best way to motivate me. If I see that I did so many reps last week, I either try to lift more or get at least one more rep. This way I know that there is progression in my strength.

I see quite a few people at my gym that keep a log, but personally I don't need one because I can remember everything that I have done without writing it down.

I like to use Money Ledgers - lots of colums in a small hardcover binder. I don't always keep a record but when I do I always see great results cause I know where I can make progression... no one built a house without a plan.

I keep one for diet and another for my workout. Generally up date my workout diary at my desk and I'll review a previous workout prior to working out to know what to hit and at what weight. Saves me a lot of time in the gym.

I keep a workout log on my computer to keep track of my workouts. It has helped me to identify weak spots tons.
