Lat pulldown behind neck or in front?

What is the better form to do it to make the lats wide if you had to choose one way? Lat pulldown behind neck or in front?

When you are pulling down behind the neck that is putting your body in an unnatural position. My .02 would be in front. IF you want width try chins.

going behind the neck puts more emphasis on you traps and rhomboids rather than your lats, going in front does incorporate a lot of rhoms as well but it is the ultimate mass builder for the lats.

    whatcha gonna do..........

People used to say it was okay to do movements behind the neck, but working with heavy weights behind the neck can mess up the small stabalizer muscles that keep the humerus in place. You can do behind the neck movements, but you shouldn't let your arms go much further than paralel.

I totally agree...you have to be extremely careful going behind the neck, especially when using heavy weight...
