On my current routine, I do 4 days a week. 2-3 exercises per workout. Low volume works for me.

I do about 4 exercises for small bodyparts and 5 for the large ones. Every exercise consits out of 1 set all out, low volume.

    Is 8 exercises too many?

My workout is this (all sets 10,8,6,4,2 or to failure)

    Mon:
    Dumbell Press
    Incline Dumbell press
    Incline Flys
    Tricep pushdowns
    Neck machine
    Bent over flys
    standing side lat raises
    standing front lat raises

    Weds
    Squats
    Deads
    Leg curls
    Leg extensions
    calve raises
    Barbell shrugs
    upright rows
    Back Hyperextensions

    Fri
    preacher curls
    reverse preacher curls
    hammer curls
    front forearm curls
    reverse forearm curls
    seated rows
    lat pulldowns
    chin ups

    Would this be better?....
    Mon
    Dumbell Press
    Tricep pushdowns
    standing side lat raises
    standing front lat raises

    Weds.
    Squats
    Deads
    Shrugs
    Neck machine

    Fri
    Seated rows
    Lat pull downs
    Preacher curls
    Reverse preacher curls

Is it necessary to train calves? Wouldn't doing the core lifts like squat and deads hit the calves?

8 diffrent excercises X 5 sets = 40 sets a day.. thats nuts. I like to do sets of 5s and pyramid my weight, but i did alot less excersies mabye like 4 or 5 and thats even pushing it.

You gotta judge your body right, i was doin 12, 10, 8 before and gained strength. IM about ready to start bulking so im switchign to 8,6,4. With the same excersises but alto heavier weight and i feel just as sore when i was doin hi reps AND hi amounts of sets.

If ya cut down the excersies by half mabye, then you have that half of excerises to switch to in the next 4-6-8 weeks that will stimulate your muscles diffrently producing better results later on

    Just my 2 cents..

    Friday Legs #1 Workout #2
    Squats Squats
    leg presses deadlifts
    leg extensions leg curls
    leg curls leg extentions

    Saturday shoulders- triceps Workout #2
    Military press dumbell press
    dumbell press dumbell side raises
close grip bench behing back barrbell shrugs
    tricep pushdowns french presses
    weighted tricept dips

Sunday Monday off, Really don't like doing anything upper body after working shoulders hard since it will also hit shoulders and overtrain them. Back day hit's my biceps good enough during a bulking cycle, because of intesity and weight being used. I switch between workout 1 and 2 every other week Do plenty of warmups and only 2 all out sets per exercise. This seems to work good for me for size but will need to change things for cutting up. I also try get 3 days of calves in since it's my weakest point.
