Loading plates facing inward?
I was wondering what the purpose is of loading plates with the inscription facing medially on a barbell. I learned this way and have always seen serious bodybuilders loading plates this way. Is there a benefit? Just wondering.

nope, none, wt is the same facing either way, just easy to hold onto when your loading and unloading..

Also, when faced inward the next plate can lie flat against the other.

like he said. then when you add more plates they are flat against each other and dont cling as much. I feel weird when the plates arent facing inward.

It's just a matter of personal preference.. I always load them in because it makes it easier to unload them and re-rack them on the tree...

I used to do it out of habbit but now I just grab a plate and throw it on the bar. Dont really care about how they are on there.
