Employee Rights and CBC Tests
My employer recently passed a policy stating they will start conducting annual Complete Blood Count (CBC) tests. I'm not on cycle now, but was curious if these CBC tests would detect gear in the system or if other specialized tests for those specific substances need to be administered for that?

The only things that would throw up red flags would be elevated H&H (androgens increase RBC production), or elevated WBC counts from infection or allergic reaction.

If they look at your Blood Urea to Creatine ratio, especially if you may look bulky and muscular, is enough for them to do confirmation testing that you are on AAS.

That's part of a metabolic panel, not CBC.
And steroids shouldn't throw that off either, unless your kidneys are under strain.

This is not uncommon. Executive managers at large chain department stores go through this. Well beyond CBC. They also run lipids, CMP and more.

never would have known. i had to go through a "fit for duty" physical a few months back. very comprehensive, at least it appears so on the surface. check my hearing? the doc said i seem fine since i'm responding to what he is saying. visual? very basic eye chart. there were four pages of tests that needed to be done. but i came in with all my lab results and everything else from just a couple of months ago. i was in and out in about 15 minutes. what a joke~!

Many industries that offer a CDHP type insurance conduct annual "wellness checks" that will run your lipid panel, blood glucose, CBC,....ad infinitum....ad nauseum. Unfortunately, this seems to be the trend health plans are headed towards.
Some employers are offering additional $ towards the employee's HSA and the screening is voluntary. There are always rumors that this will become mandatory due to increasing insurance costs. Not saying that I agree with it, just thought I'd share what I've experienced/ told to expect by my employer.Last edited by almostgone; 12-17-2013 at 05:08 AM.
There are 3 loves in my life: my wife, my English mastiffs, and my weightlifting....Man, my wife gets really pissed when I get the 3 confused...
