    Draw blood for job opportunity

Has anyone ever heard of a company drawing blood (instead of urine sample) for a job opportunity? If so, does anyone know if they can and will test for testosterone levels ? Apparently, I've interviewed for a job and seems they want to hire me. However, they told me "As part of the process, we will send you for a physical and they will draw blood to check for certain substances". This has me thinking what they test for when drawing blood. Seems a bit intrusive for a job opportunity. I totally get a urine sample, but drawing blood? I thought it sounded a little unusual. Almost towing the line...Does anyone have any insight on this? Can they legally test hormone levels, etc for a job?? They didn't say that specifically, but the thought of allowing them to draw blood for a job is a bit weird to me.

Drugs are detectable longer in urine than blood. So I would assume that they're testing for more than drugs (Cholesterol, diseases, etc).

First - I assume you're a resident of North America. My answer is only bound to said region.
    1. I'm blood tested every 6 months due to my career choice and job requirements.
    2. If you look at the tests performed by Quest Diagnostics, or similar, the standard for companies is recreational AND abuse of Rx's . For example, if you didn't disclose that you take Percocet and you actually have an Rx for it - your screening will show-up positive for Opiates. If your lucky, you'll get a shot to have your Doctor clear you....most employers just move on to the next candidate.
    3. Per #2 above, Quest Diagnostics and similar labs have specialized testing for PEDs and unless your company is "sports" based your good to go

    4. Bonaparte, it is against Federal Law in North America to test for "Cholesterol, diseases" for jobs....it's called EOE.....this includes Genetics!

That is quite an underwhelming statistic. I shall work with vigor to obtain at least 2 posts/year
