Testosterone from cholesterol = lie?
Hello guys,
I've got 5 blood tests but I can't understand one thing. Everywhere I read that testosterone is made from cholesterol...but my results show something else.
1. result: cholesterol 5.2 mmol/l ref.: 0 - 5.2
testosterone 15.1 nmol/l ref.: 6.1 - 27.1
2. result: cholesterol 5.4 mmol/l ref.: 0 - 5.2
testosterone 12.4 nmol/l ref.: 6.1 - 27.1
3. result: cholesterol 5.7 mmol/l ref.: 0 - 5.2
testosterone 12.3 nmol/l ref.: 6.1 - 27.1
4. result: cholesterol 4.8 mmol/l ref.: 0 - 5.2
testosterone 16 nmol/l ref.: 6.1 - 27.1
HDL 1.06 mmol/l ref.: 1.03 - any number
LDL 3.11 mmol/l ref.: 0.00 - 3.3
5. result: cholesterol 5.3 mmol/l ref.: 0 - 5.2
testosterone 12.8 nmol/l ref.: 6.1 - 27.1
HDL 1.28 mmol/l ref.: 1.03 - any number
LDL 3.16 mmol/l ref.: 0.00 - 3.3
As you can see where my cholesterol level is higher, testosterone level is lower and inversely.
What's the truth?

All endogenous steroids including Testosterone are indeed derived from cholesterol but this happens within the gonads and adrenals and other few sites there is no correlation with the amount of cholesterol circulating in blood.

Smart Italian, totally correct. I have to read his posts and think about them before I understand.
