I am partial to the gixxers... have friends with 600s and they like em. Not sure about the R6. If the only bad thing people are saying about gsx-r's are that their back is sore... that's pretty good.

I have a 2000 R6. I l0ve it. Dont be stupid and buy a 1000 thats just asking to crash or get killed. Unless its not your first bike. My bud has the gixxer and he also loves it but he says its harder to pop wheelies on it and that the seating position is leaning more forward than other bikes. My R6 is really faster probably as or more faster than my buds gixxer. And personally i think the R6 looks the coolest out of all the bikes other than maybe the CBr-r

check both bikes out... go sit on em and see which one you like .. the peg position will determine the comfort level of the ride. Both are quite high and have a fairly rigid ride.
why not this?

Personally, I think the r6 looks better then the r1, but the r1 is a much nicer bike.

yes- they have a claimed 183hp at the crank.. so your looking at about 170-175 to the rear wheel- which is crazy fast.. i have an 01 r1 ( dynoed at 157hp at the rear wheel) right now and am looking forward to trading it for the 04.. but the gixxer1000 isnt no joke either... i rode a friend of mines new gixxer 1k and it was like nothing ive been on- handled better on one wheel than it did 2.......

Personal favorite of mine and probably the best all round sports bike the Honda CBR900-RR Fireblade.
If your looking for crazy looks i'de go for a Yamaha YZF-R1. I had one for a while. Loads of fun.
But if you want a speed demon, and a heavier bike, I would definately choose a ZX-12R over a Hayabusa. It looks so much better.

If you're buying new you may as well pay the extra money for a liter bike. You will regret not having the power as you get better at riding. That being said:
If it comes down to R6 vs. Gixx...R6 has better styling, in my opinion, but the Gixxer handles better as a consistent performer. I have done several track days and everyone has mostly GSXR's and Ducati's...Why? Because they perform well and are very balanced bikes.
If you're just a go out and ride...rev / holla at some b*tches go with the R6. If you REALLY REALLY ride (like knee draggin speed) go with the GSXR.
From a stunting standpoint they both are equally competent. The GSXR is a bit more balanced in wheelies but I think the R6 feels like it's a bit more powerful for its weight. You can bounce 3rd gear up on an R6 without the clutch...it's pretty impressive power / weight.
Bottomline dude: It depends on your riding style and what you want to do with the bike. The GSXR750 has all positives of the 600 plus is definitely more capable than the R6...that is something else to consider. Good luck and if you have any questions just PM the kid.
Edit: Didn't realize you bought it...in that case the R6 rokks.
