Personally, I don't like the stuff. But there's no reason why government (actually, mostly Republican politicians) should tell doctors they can't prescribe it to people who can benefit from it.
Ya, there's no need for politicians to be restricting access to legitimate medicines.

We are happy to announce that after a passionate debate, the Texas State Democratic Party adopted a resolution, which includes supporting legislation to remove criminal penalties for bona fide patients and providers of therapeutic marijuana. The Party Platform reflected this same sentiment by adopting a plank under the section - A Patient’s Bill of Rights, which states:
Medical decisions regarding all effective treatment options must be made by medical doctors in consultation with their patients, not insurance company accountants, or government bureaucrats.
This resolution would never have gotten to the state convention without the help of all the volunteers who saw it through the precinct and senatorial district/county conventions. We are very thankful for their participation.

Steph Sherer of Americans for Safe Access will be leading training sessions and taking questions about medical marijuana policy in California and across the country.
