There is a good pop up blocker option in Zone Alarm Pro.

pop ups most of the time show up from ad aware things so if youll get a spycleaner you should be fine.

Get the Google Toolbar ... it's free and one of the best popup blockers I've used.

yes but it will also corrupt alot of your cookied applications and sites over time, not at first but in time, which it will have to be completely uninstalled from add remove programs to fix it.

Try spybots tools on the left pane when using it in advanced mode... remove all of the junk from the system startup .. as alot of the programs startup with the machine .. yes they are detected and removed but start back up with a reboot.

    spybot is all you need.

    Dont Use Internet Explorer

for your day to day web surfing i would suggest using firefox web browser and it has popup turn off in its setting by default- ONLY use IE when you have to and for windows updates. lately i have been using adaware on people machines to remove most of the junk.. for a while spybot had it beat hands down but lately it doesnt look that way. there are some other apps made for specific adware/spyware out there that you may end up having to use. Here is a link to get firefox http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ that will keep you from getting infested in the future

agreed. i've been using the google toolbar for nearly two years ... I have never had a problem with any of my cookies, and as a web designer, I use and test with a lot of them

as for spyware, unfortunately, no one utility can get all of them. spybot is maintained by one single guy who only updates his definitions every 6 weeks. another thing to be careful of is there are 30 or so different programs called "spybot", and some of them actually open you up to other spyware ... "Spybot Search & Destroy" is the one you want to install

the last option, if you want to reduce your vulnerabiliies, is to switch to a Mozilla browser (Netscape)
