NASA fears upcoming magnetic storm
This will hit the news stands shortly.
Nasa has not publicly confirmed this but they have spotted a comet headed towards earth. Astronomers are not worried about a collision with earth but more so the close proximity it will have with us. They observe that this is no ordinary comet. They believe however, that this comet encompasses strong magnetic properties. So strong in fact, that Weights and Measures has no scale to compare it to.
Why should this worry us if it is not gonna collide with Earth? Well, have you ever took a magnet and put it up to your TV set. Or perhaps up to your computer hard drive. Or maybe even up to a casette tape. Basically, all the info is wiped clean. Nasa unofficially says this comet surpasses the strength of one of those magnets a million times over.
Almost all of earth stores countless gigs of info on digital file. EVERYTHING from digit to electronic will be wiped out the second this comet can be seen by human eye.
There will be no safe housing for any type of digital format. Not even protection from a lead sheild is strong enough.
NASA is worried about coming public with this information in fear that it will cause global panic.
There is no time to copy all necassary informaton from digital storage to hard copy.
Stock market records, credit card agencies. Banks. Pentagon, FBI, CIA, even the satelites in orbit will cease to function due to short circuit failure.
The ion trail of this comet will linger in earths orbit for weeks. This means almost all the new automobiles will not start, cell phones will not work.. Tv and radio will not function. Even possible interferance with electrical lines and electricity.
Basically, the dark ages with anarchy rule for two weeks and the collapse of the stock market and credit reporting agencies. Even some DMV and law enforcement files will be lost.Last edited by bermich; 10-11-2004 at 10:43 PM.

LOL. Propaganda. Humorous, though. I think I saw a movie on the Sci-fi channel with a plot not unlike this.

I just got bored last night and always wondered what would happen to all the data if a magnetic storm came.
It is possible but unlikely.
