If i change the startup homepage in the IE settings it will just reset next time I open the browser.. and the Settings say About:Blank in the first place... anyways heres a picture of what the homepage looks like, if anyone can help id definately appreciate it.

I had the same thing> Get adware 6.0 and b4 u use it go into advanced settings and make sure the thing is checked to do a deep scan on your registry.
That'll take care of it.

try adaware and/or spybot first. spyware removal might not take care of it though bc what you have looks like a browser hijacker.. NOT spyware. get a program named "Hijack this", it allows you to manually remove malicious registry entries that spybot and adaware may not detect.

Just like Ron said, I would switch your browser. Mozilla is an excellent FREE browser.
Or....
Just get a Mac

Sorry to hear about this. If anyone else has this problem pm me. I have a registry file that will change your browser and LOCK IT. The only way you can unlock it is with the other registry file that I have with it. It obviously won't eliminate your problems, but stop the startup browswer.
I used to be a fan of Spybot S&D but like others have said. It wont fix it. Learn your registry, system and system32 folders. A tip I might add is when you are in your system 32 folder. Right click on an open spot and hit arrange by modified. Obviously the spyware is going to be the last programs that have been opened. Programs are represented by the small blue box. Then you have your ocx. dlls.....I don't put much faith in programs designed by other people anymore. Too many keyloggers. Although I would say ad aware would be the way to go. Spysweeper and Spybot are both worthless when it comes to problems that aren't easily fixed. Watch those porn sites...they take a dump on you and never quit..

Mbarso, What settings are you talking about exactly? I don't use these type of programs anymore, but it would be nice to cut down some of my time searching folders..Thanks for the help...
Thegame...Also I believe that you may have had a program named ntdd32.exe on your computer with that page. It usually comes with the page. Its a bitch. It recreates additional spyware programs inside your system folder. Even if you do get rid of all the spyware that is seen. That specific program will constantly be ****ing you up the ass.........

U also have to go into the registry and delete everything in there that has to do with whichever spyware u have. I had BargainBuddy and Navisearch....Took me 4 different programs and then manually editting the registry to finally get ride of everything. I recommend u do the same thing......After using a spyware removing program go to goolge and do a search "removing name of spyware here" and u should be able to find which registry keys u need to delete. Trust me, just using the spyware removal programs wont totally remove the spyware. U must edit the registy..... Good luck!!

thanks guys
even though I already formatted everything, you guys are a big help. Ill keep all of that stuff in mind in the event that the spyware pops up again. no pun intended.
Im trying to take sme steps to prevent it in the future however. I have a popup blocked, avg anti virus, ad aware, and spyware doctor. As well as the windows firewall on.
By the way, does anyone know how to keep windows firewall on and still have the computers on the network be able to communicate with each other?
thanks again

How do you clean a registry? Im not the greatest with computers. Also, what is the registry?
-
10-22-2004, 11:49 PM #28
You will never get rid of all this stuff. I back up everything on an external zip and when this stuff gets on there, I do a hard recovery and start clean. Spybot, adaware adn similar programs will never get your computer fully clean.

but basically the registry is the blueprint of your system. which is why messing with it can mess things up.
there's also programs out there specifically designed to clean your registry. some work better than others. just do a search on www.download.com for registry cleaner

i have avg running now.. and have been using the windows firewall until I download zonealarm. There hasnt been any problems since i messed with the configuration in Ad Aware SE, you have to set it to deepscan and make sure all the boxes are checked. The computers running good right now.. no browser hijacks, no popups, no b/s spyware that i can tell.

Viruses suck balls.
My computer was infected ran slow as ****. It took My antivirus software over 8 hours to find the infected files. It was checking about ten files a minute. Then without warning nearly eight hours in. It ran as normal and found the infected files. I was sweating buckets I didn't know what I'd have done if it had taken much longer grrr.
