Where's a good place to download music?

I have Kazaa, but it sucks. It doesn't have **** on Napster 4 years ago. I used to use MusicGalaxy or whatever, but they shut that down, too. I don't care if I have to pay, but I don't want to pay alot. Any know of anywhere?

I rarely have problems finding exactly what I want on Kazaa. You cannot find something on Kazaa.....is that a regularly occurring prob? Did you try jumping supernodes?

No, I can always find it. It's downloading it that's the problem. I have a fast connection, but everytime I try to download, MOST of the time, it gives me that "need more sources" or some other crap. I wish Audiogalaxy was still up. It worked pretty good, too.

    hey!

    hey!!

NEVER EVER use kazaa... get kazaalite instead without all the ad and spyware on it. if that doesn't work then i think you're looking for some pretty obscure music bro.

What version do you have? I think the newer versions of K++ handle all that problem to some extent although sometimes if I am downloading a large file (700+ mb) that is relatively rare it can be a significant wait because of source finding problems.

I have the newest version, and I paid for the Plus so I don't get the adware and crap. Maybe that was a mistake, but I hate adware and spyware.

I don't know what the deal is. Maybe it's who I'm downloading from, but I always get screwed, and when I do a search %80 of the results have the red X on them, which I don't know what is, and it fails to download those anyway.

I guess I'll try out winMX, and see how that turns out.

If your just looking for a song or two then all of the above are ok, but if you want full albums and games, movies, apps, audio books ect then Bit torrent kicks ass!! All you have to do is download the small file from Bittorrent.com homepage and then hit a page like suprnova.org and you can download a ton of albums (recent or old), movies that have just hit theaters ect.. It is by far the best program I have ever used for jacking free stuff.

IMHO it is stupid to download stuff from the web or from P2P. Get your stuff from UseNet instead. Get yourself a good newsreader (I like NewsLeecher for binaries, but Agent works okay too) and if your ISP does not have a news server, then pay for an account.

Here are a few groups for you:
    alt.binaries.multimedia.country-music
    alt.binaries.music
    alt.binaries.music.classical
    alt.binaries.music.ape.bootleg
    alt.binaries.music.faith.and.wisdom
    alt.binaries.music.garbage
    alt.binaries.music.heavy-metal
    alt.binaries.music.jungle
    alt.binaries.music.springsteen
    alt.binaries.music.doors
    alt.binaries.music.techno
    alt.binaries.sounds.emmylou
    alt.binaries.sounds.erotica
    alt.binaries.sounds.jefferson-airplane
    alt.binaries.sounds.led-zeppelin
    alt.binaries.sounds.blues
    alt.binaries.sounds.country
    alt.binaries.sounds.electronic
    alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.1950s
    alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.1960s
    alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.1970s
    alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.1980s
    etc
    alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.bob-dylan
    alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.classic-rock
    alt.binaries.sounds.mp3.dr_demento
I think you get the picture. There are probably 4 or 5000 newsgroups just for music binaries. When you get stuff from P2P there is no peer review. On a newsgroup, if a post is bogus or incomplete or corrupted or is infected, somebody will post a message to that effect. So you can see, if the post is a day old or so, whether or not it is what it is supposed to be. There is more variety. Things are neatly categorized in their proper groups. You don't have to hope that your source is online... you can always log on to your news server. You are more anon than with P2P. And you can also get programs, e-books, pics, flicks, (most flicks on P2P are low quality avi rather than VCD or SVCD or DVD compliant mpg) and you can also find text-only groups with lively discussions going on. UseNet rocks. P2P sucks. Just my two yuan.
