Vote on THIS. New forum idea
I think we should have an injury forum. I think this would be helpful as I recently had an injury and had trouble getting responses because there really wasn't a place for injuries. I used the workout and training forums and the lounge for it, but still, nobody was that interested.
It would be really great if we could have a place to look up experiances of other dudes, how they hurt themselves, what rehab was like, what drugs to help recover, etc.Last edited by AnabolicBoy1981; 11-02-2004 at 04:33 PM.

I voted no, which i believe i am the only 1... lol.. if you have an injury you should be consulting a doctor not people that will just give opinions.. but i mainly said no because alot of forums we already have dont get much attention or postings..

Take for instance...
A guy has a severe bruise on his bicep from Barbell Row's and thinks it's going to heal within a few days. So he tries to be a tough guy. It COULD be very serious with all the internal bleeding and muscle tear. He may post up that he busted up his bicep, put up some pics and be told by some members that it looks serious and that he should get it checked out. The final result would be him getting those pushes and responses for him to actually check with a medical professional, which otherwise, he wouldn't or would hesitate too.
It can work for the positive, but you're 100% right that they should consult a doctor. However, I see no negative with having it on the board.
I voted yes.

It's also comforting to know others have had the same thing happen. It's alot less depressing than feeling like your alone. I think mentally the forum could help alota guys from feeling panic. When i had my tear i really wished there was an injury forum. I did see a doctor, but i have seen doctors many times for little nothings. Some other ppl don't worry about their bodies like I do, like my training partner. If it was up to him, he woulda just trained on it.
Also, some guys get screwed by the trainers at the therapy centers when they don't have insurance, and the trainers kinda rush them though. This has happend. We can share our therapy excersises and proper apllication just in case such a thing happens to one of our brothers. Sometimes the system fails and that's when we have to be there for each other.

it would be good if we had someone qualified to oversee it.
at beyondmass we have one ran by a former nfl trainer and injury specialist

This place has forums??? I just go to the NEW POSTS button and see what comes up.
The sports forum has 50 seperate forums and they have little to no traffic.
Just post it where you think the injury belongs.

I have a paramedic running one on my board.
So as long as the advice given is not to be substituted for actual medical advice from a doctor I don't see a problem having one.

And if you do make one.Make a sticky to tell those that advice given should not be substitued for actual medical advice from a doctor.

I voted yes. True, injuries should be handled by doctors. But that doesnt mean the injury forum would be full of us telling people how to heal properly, it could be a place where people discuss the injuries they have/had and what measures their doctors took to properly heal them.
Last I checked, we had some docs on the board. Doc M, heart doc md and 1 other I think. my .02
