get a wrangler, yea id do that if i wanted to be in a tin can.

i have one problem with my 01 cherokee, sometimes when i goto stop the rpm will drop and if the car isnt moving right when it happens, the engine will die. I havent got the slitest clue what the deal is.

Yea if it wasnt for the deal i got on it I would have bought something else.

Laredo with all the Limited Options. Nice as hell. I think the fuel pump might be having an issue. I bought it with 60,000 miles for $10,500

Keep in mind that the vehicles BCM (Body control module) controls the gauges based on signals from the sender. The gauges are electromagnetic. It sounds to me like a gauge problem but you can run a self diagnostic test on the cluster. With the key off, push and hold the odometer trip button and then turn the key to the run position. This puts the EMIC (Electromagnetic Instrument Cluster) into diagnostic mode. Release the trip button. The needles on the gauges should sweep from left to right and back. Watch your oil pressure gauge to see if it sticks. The cluster will exit diagnostic mode automatically. If this is an intermittent problem, it may not happen during the test. You may need to try it several times. It could be a loose mount for that particular gauge or just a faulty gauge altogether. A scan tool should be able to pick up any codes set in the BCM pertaining to the EMIC. Good luck.

Idle air valve or on the Jeeps it should be an idle air control motor. They get stuck. Sometimes you can remove it, clean the pintle valve and it will work fine.

Wranglers have all the same engine management systems as the Cherokees and Grand Cherokees. The only model I haven't had to work on constantly is the Liberty.

Would a sympton to that be when you first start the car the rpm shoots up to like 2000 and then immediatly drops back to normal, and sometimes yea it does idle rough.

The IAC or idle air control motor controls all aspects of the idle circuit. If the valve opens to far it idles high. If it can't open fast enough or far enough it idles too low or not at all. If it idles too low it can seem rough especially in gear. Could also be a carboned up throttle body.
