i try to do those only after i do something like cleans 'cause otherwise you can grab hella weight and still get bored. do sets of cleans and then the 100's will feel like sacks of bricks knowhati'msayin'?

i do them after i do straight bar shrugs. straight bar shrug i can do 520 for about 8 reps, and my gym only has dumbbells up to 100lbs, and i normally do three sets, 30 reps per set, nice and slow, squeezing at the top, but thats NOT to failure.

other gym i went to i could do 125 for like 10 reps, but that was just starting my cycle also.......

The highest I go with DB is 95lbs for 12 reps........... but I weigh a lot less then all of you big guys

Yes I use wrist raps...... I would rather let my traps give out first then my grip or forearms.

My traps always give out before my forearms do, even on deadlifts, my forearms/grip outlast everything.

My gym doesnt have dbs higher then 110's so I never do db shrughs. I can probably do 12-14 reps with those or something along those lines. Anyway its wasted effort since my trapz have never grown the slightest from db shrughs Unless I do a exercise I call "gymneger" shrughs(named after a big black dude in a gym I used to workout in a few years ago). But they are much heavier and then the 70's are enough.

thats the nickname I got at my gym, and I'm white. It came from when I got out of the shower one day and was walking around the locker room naked. Everyone was like "**** Gym Nigger, put that thing away. Doesn't it hurt when it drags on the ground like that?"

I train at home. No barbell... just 20" olympic dumbbell handles and loose plates. I can easily pile a half dozen 25ers on each handle so I can use the dummies for not just shrugs, but also squats and SLDL. Get yourself a pair of these, if your gym doesn't have big dumbbells. Load 'em up and check out the envious looks, while you do shrugs with 165 lb dumbbells! Oh, word of advice, don't use spring collars. Use good turn-screw collars or you will end up dumping plates on your toes.
