    Anyone from Texas?

I'm planning on moving down south (maybe texas) I'm either going out West (Alberta Canada) or heading down to Texas if I can get into the oil and gas industry...it's gonna be easy to drill in Alberta but the weather sucks for about 6 months so i'd rather head south and work...

Anybody have any info on the oil and gas industry in Texas or know of a good Head Hunter down that way let me know? the info would be greatly appreciated.

Also I'd like to move as close as possible to the Gulf, anyone know of some of the better cities or towns in Texas along the coastline?

    Thanx again...

I haven't been to a lot of the gulf cities, but I have some friends that grew up in Rockport-Fulton, and they seemed to like it. If you want something a little bigger, you might look into Texas City. check out www.texas-city-tx.org, and www.rockport-fulton.org

Houston is the fattest city in America.

That does nothing to help you out, I know, but they must have some good food or really lazy ass people.

Yea, that's why I moved LOL. THere are a lot of fat ppl there. I honestly think it is because of all the donut shops in Houston. THere is literally one on every street corner. Where I live now, i would have to look in th phone book to find a dammn donut shop.

Yep, Texas is home to 4 of the fattest cities in America, including Houston which is the big #1!

I was looking at pictures from rockport-fulton...that place looks nice.

What's the humidity like? i'm use to humid summers up here followed by 6 months of winter it seems, but i'd rather put up with a couple of months of hot stuff then 6 months of sheat!

The humidity is pretty heavy most of the year....houston at least, I mean, it is right there next to the gulf. It is probably only cold for about 3-4 months though. It's hot or warm most of the year though. Those few months of cold arent anything unbearable for sure, and during some of those months, there will be a warm day in there every now and again, so its not solid cold all the time. I like the climate, i hate cold weather

I'm definately trying to avoid Alberta...i could start work there tommorrow, but i'd rather hold off and go South.

That's what i like to hear!...I've lived in the cold for 34 years now, i think my body will adjust to the warmer climate quite nicely Althoug i'm sweating hot all the time, even in the winter i don't own a winter coat, i just wear sweaters unless it's -20C theni'll put a coat on.

It's about 12deg C here right now and that's perfect, a little warmer will be even better...the last time i was in Texas was 16 years ago, i went in FEB and it was -12c here and when i got out of the airport in Dallas it was friggin beautiful out!

I would definately prefer BC over ALberta...It was really up to where ensign wanted to send me, my freind got a 1 month gig on a rig in BC (bastard) But now that it's break out season I'd have to wait until the end of summer to roughneck out that way, atleast that's what the headhunter told me...I find that hard to believe, but i'm sure they don't stop drilling in Texas.
