I have too much on my mind.... any ideas on how I can shut my brain off??

Think about 80's hair metal videos. If it doesn't shut off your brain...it will surely bore you to sleep.

sleep aid, Think positive. It is going to be alright , you are going to pull thru. If you are worried about exams, know that sleep will aid you and that you will ace the exams. Dont worry I got your back Bliss.

they will wake you, it is hard for you to sleep when you are exercising. That is why they dont reccomend you workout late at night.

Best thing EVER... If you have a downloading program, type in "Audio Hypnosis" anything pertaining to deep sleep or sleep aids should suffice... knocks me out in less than 5 minutes.

I used to have that problem. Had to take sleep meds to go to sleep cause my mind was racing so bad.
Then I learned to meditate and the problem went away IMIDIETLY. Over 1 day I went from having medicated insomnia into sleeping like a baby naturaly again.
Now I just meditate 10 minutes or so before going to sleep. I can sleep without the meditation to since I have learned to calm my mind.
Bouncer and blizz give it a try! Its very easy.
I posted a thread in the religion forum about how to meditate here is a link

Valium (Diazapam 5-10mgs) ask you doc should be no problem, complete brain relaxation, solid sleep 8-10hrs. Or just pet your kitty. sry had to say it.

I would stay away from sleep meds, that's a slippery slope. Meditation works great for me. Concentrate on your breathing, look as far into the darkness as you can. If you mind wanders, which it will, just bring it back to your breathing. Relax every muscle in your body until you can't even feel the bed under you. Good luck!!

I only mentioned Valium cause she wanted to "shut her brain off", highly addictive but effective as well, the key is moderation.

I would say try every natural method there is before turning to meds. It sucks to depend on medicine to be able to sleep.
