DVD plyaers for my car

A friend of mine is going to the US for the summer, so he's gonna hook me up with a few things...

But I have a few questions :

1. Is it true that in the US shit is cheaper if you order it over the net then if you go to the store and just buy it?

2. I have a 2DIN slot in my car (twice as big as normal), so the DVD fits in perfectly, I'd like the one that is the unit and the screen all in one

3. I have a golf V, the car is bought in Europe, will the US DVD player even work in my car?

4. Does anybody know any sites for such things?

I had an Alpine IVA-D901 in my truck and it was very nice, best picture quality I've seen in a car. Ebay is always pretty good, but make sure you get something "new in box" because it could be hot and all messed up.

DvDs are regionaly coded. So make sure the player you pickup will play european dvds.
