I downloaded the full package here...I unzipped it...what do I need ot do? I know I need a host, but I am still lost...
There should be a help file along with the zip. In order for it to work, you have to upload all the db and forum files to your host, then access your admin panel, etc.
I used to use this company for my auto forum when i owned a car shop. Its faster than v bulletin and used by some of the largest auto forums on the net such as vwvortex.com. also customer service is great when you are just starting out. youll need some help for sure.

phpbb sucks and can be EASILY hacked by people looking to have fun w/your board.
Get V-Bulletin, pay the fee to own it for life, and you are set.

If you know how to program and rewrite the code which I do, it's excellent for a freebie. The baseline standard version isn't all that great, that's why you need to tweak the hell out of it if you choose the free path.Originally Posted by SwoleCat
But I definintely agree with VBulletin. Very well put together. Still hackable, but a hell of a lot harder!
