there really isn't another option d00fy...some viruses are made not to be deleted...if you got a trojan that means u accepted it thru someone...rather someone sent you a "pic" but instead of say jpg format it was an exe meaning its a program..or you could have been trojaned by goin to a website where someone has installed a trojan that affects anyone who goes to the site..but sorry bro, u need to reformat

to format your system you have to be in the command prompt or in dos. Once in there type format c:\*.* and it will take care of the rest.

    bros, don't panic.
If you have Win98, hold the left CTRL key while it's booting and a screen will appear asking how you would like to load the system.
    Select safe-mode, DOS prompt only.
Type del c:\WINDOWS\temp\test.vbs and it should work, if it doesn't, try using a DOS boot disk or a LINUX boot disk to get around the problem.

Next time, to avoid this, try and have seperate partitions on your system.
I got one only for my OS and then several others for my programs and stuff so if my OS goes bad, I'm only a simple re-installation aways from being back on-line.

Doofy, go to www.moosoft.com and download The Cleaner...it's probably the best trojan database and protector as well as removal out there.

    YES the cleaner is AWESOME!!!!!!!
    works wonders for stupid trojans...

DEF no need to format your HD...i wouldnt do that, i mean if it comes down to it, XP comes with a disk that will bring you back to the original state of your computer, all personal files will be gone but your system will be back to normal. but honestly you shouldnt have to go to those extremes for a trojan. It CAN be deleted within your registry, although i wouldnt recomend YOU going into your registry, one wrong move and youll do more damage than harm.

by the way, sounds to me like the love letter worm

plus that bug is in a temp file. I get viruses all the time that end up in there. you can delete everything in your temp file without doing anything bad to your computer. I just go in there and clean out the whole folder.

I cant believe it took someone so long to recommend "The Cleaner", it is a KICK ASS product. I know it has saved my computer from a few trojans. Between, a firewall, NAV 2002, and the cleaner, you should be safe as.

    Good luck.
