Anyone know where I can get legit army dog tags?

Hey guys. Real close buddy of mine had his house robbed today, all the jewelry and stuff that he has is from his dad who passed away a few years ago from cancer. He lives with his brother and his mom and I just feel terrible that this had to happen to them. He was real upset because not only did the robber steal a lot of jewelry his dad left him (watches, bracelets and stuff), the guy took his dads army dog tags which have a lot of sentimental value to him. Being the best friend that I am, I'd like to get him another set of dogtags identical to the ones his dad had. Is it possible I could call some army phone # and see if they could produce another set? Or is there a website out there that specializes in making them? Thanks--

That sucks that someone would steal something like that........ it has no value to the scum bag.

Well, it's very cool of you to even look into this. I hope you find something. The only thing I would think is that he might never look at them like he did the real ones that his father actually wore.

im sure he wouldnt look at them the same way..but thats not the entire point. I think he would be very appreciative and its something that would really cheer him up. I mean Ive never even seen the kid even remotely unhappy and today I watched him tear up in the gym when he was telling me and it really got to me, plus hes my best friend. I cant recover what he lost but its the best thing I can do for him I think.

is there a base near you? if there is you can go out in town to an "old sarges" and the small clothing stores that sell military stuff and make you authentic dog tags. just give them the info you want on their and that's it. probably 4 bucks, i use to get them done when i forgot mine at the house so thats a sure bet.

i wouldn't lie to him. i'm sure his father's tags had certain scuff marks or dents or whatever that would make them recognizable to him. i would just say "i know these aren't his original tags, but at least you have a pair" or something like that.

try to ask for his fathers info and say your gonna see if they're on ebay.
