I feel like shite today & all I wanna do is eat carb laden fatty delights.
Is it that my body needs it to recover or am I kidding myself and just looking for "comfort food"?

I dunno but I just had a bunch of candy and it was wonderful.
Your body wants salt so it can hold more water to flush out the illness.
I believe it to be a mental thing.. Your not feeling well, effecting your workouts.. So you compromise to make yourself feel better with junk food!
Remember when you were little...and, mom would make you something of your favorite food because you were sick or feeling sad...which was always some type of high fat, high carb...or sugary food.
But, you felt better after....because it was comforting that someone made it for you who loved you. Most of the time...you want the same food to help your brain process that "good feel" you associated with that food!

Interesting...I wonder if this is why I crave salty foods after a night out drinking?Originally Posted by LORDBLiTZ

Girlfriend, your body craves calories to rebuild and replenish fat stores that are depleted by illness. Remember, being under 10% is NOT natural, NOT what the evolutionary process and survival of the fittest determined, when we first swung down out of the trees, to be a good characteristic to ensure survival of the species. Fat is our emergency larder, and it is easily maintained, since adipose tissue makes only modest nutritional demands. Keeping a good store of bodyfat makes good sense, from a survival standpoint. Doing so, when we were still hunter/gatherers, was difficult, and since this is relatively recent on the evolutionary timetable, our bodies are still programmed to desperately seek to maintain a decent amount of bodyfat. Don't be fooled by the lardasses you see walking down the street. They are an anomaly. It is only in the last few thousand years that we have come to dominate the planet to the extent that we have basically all we want to eat. Our programming is still something like, "if you can catch it, then kill it and eat it". The richer, more calorie-dense a food is, the more we instinctively crave it when our bodies have been stressed.
