Has anyone requested that their future spouse sign a pre-nup? Or were you asked to sign one? What is the process of getting a pre-nup take? Thanks!

cost prolly has something to do with your lawyer most lawyers charge 100-200 an hr, but pre-nup can be diffrent you can put anything you want in there you have ti list all your stuff like......chair, frig, dog, house, desk, shit like that you get the hint
I hope it can stay under $500.Originally Posted by steve0

Damn. I guess she will get half or I'll have to divorce her after two years (that's when she gets permanent residency). How long do you have to be married, for her to get half?Originally Posted by steve0

jk
not really though... a prenup will protect assets that are your's alone before the marriage..
the main reason then becomes, you want to protect your future earnings from her.. for in most states she gets 1/2 of everything that was earned during..
the prenup can have a clause in it that says exactly how much she will recieve in alimony, child support..

You can get one cheap at
www.legalzoom.com I get a lot of work done with them and it is easier than using an attorney and WAY cheaper.
You can do wills, trademarks, pre-nups, copyright, etc....
Fantastic company out of Cali.
oh.. its only 200 bucks for the premium package and it is just like using a REAL attorney.

Thanks! I was feeling down in the dumps, about the cost of an attorney. I'll check this link out.Originally Posted by system admin

Someone's Little Pumpkie
my ex had a pre-nup
i had to log everything
we had my account , her account , and our account .
had to keep sales slips for everything to show whos money bought what. so in the event of a divorce you could say i bought that with my money its mine.
it takes the romance out of the marriage and makes it a business deal
there even a section in there that said married for 0-1 year i get xxx amount 2-5years x amount which is negotiable
due to cost of living etc...
There is no reason that you should not get one in this day and age, Actually, my feelings are that if you don't, you are a fool. Don't think for one second that s h i t can't turn bad, it does all the time. The prenup will state what each of you is entitled to so there isn't a big, expensive divorce proceeding. You might want to use a lawyer, the online forms can be usefull but you have to know what you are doing and what the options are/can be.
Good luck
Oh, remember that in the end it's just stuff, let her have it all, xcept the house, your car, business, boat, gym membership and your cash.

Do you receive any money from her?Originally Posted by DevilsDeity
From legalzoomCouples realize that should their marriage end, the outcome should be theirs to decide, not the courts'. And if you have children and are thinking of getting married, a prenuptial agreement is an important way to protect the ones who depend on you.

good to hear you will wait a little no reason to rush, this is what im worried about my girl is kinda hintting at marrige, and if i bring up the word pre-nup she would freak
I was considering getting married once before. When I mentioned pre-nup, she freaked as well. I told her we couldn't get married then. She backed down. After over 9 years together, we didn't get married and I ended up meeting my new girlfriend.Originally Posted by steve0
dang after 9 years !!! i dont think i would ask my girl to sign a pre-nup if she put up with me for 9 years..
i declined the money i was suppose to receive ,Originally Posted by Papi93
1. i did not marry her for the money (she was worth about 22mil)
2. i wanted away and ties cut as soon as possible .
3. i feel better about myself for not taking the money cause like i said when i married her it was not about the money
feel free to kick me now![]()
