Just found out.....

She is giving 10% of the cash to the church!! WTF....Be interested in knowing what you guys/gals think about that. Me, I'm fuming at the moment and going to get drunk.

How many kids.....that number looks way too high unless you have 6 kids or more.......go back to court.....that amount is beyond wrong

I have four kids. I agreed to the number. Its the fact that she is giving it away that bothers me!

Unfortunately she can do what ever she sees fit with child support,
If you don't like what she's doing, take her to court and get it lowered,
They are changing the child support laws here in Georgia this summer, and I'm looking forward to seeing the child support that I pay drop significantly...

Pre-nups don't have anything to do with child support, they only allow you to keep what you had before the marriage.

A few Belvedere's later and I'm feeling nasty. To answer your question, pre-nup is the only way I would ever go again.

Isn't what we all work for? The money isn't the issue. She doesn't work and she is giving my money away, that's what bothers me. Am I right in being pissed off or shouldn't I care?

shit man..I wanna marry you lol
giving it to church??its ppl like her who keep churches going...if it werent...and they had taxes...haha...say goodbye to churches..

You are giving her the money anyway so if she's giving it to the church so be it. I could see if the money she was giving the church was taking away from your kids then that would be a diferent story.
As someone else stated I would rather the money go to something worth while then to a boyfriend, or drug habbit.

Something doesn't add up here. You must be loaded (and either been madly in love or had a crappy divorce lawyer, either way you got screwed on that deal) or possibly their are some zeros that keep accidently getting added. Never heard of these amounts before.
Not flaming, just sounds odd to me (and maybe a few other people here?)
Why would you give her $5000 a month on top of that? and is it really "in cash" or a different form (check etc.)

You say you pay for (like you're making payments?) doesn't make sense, why would you finance something like an suv w/ that kind of money? ($30-40k)
Seems like some bad business decisions

How did get to "something doesn't add up"? Trust me when I tell you that she gets $13,000 a month. There are some who happen to make $500K a year. That wasn't my intent to defend my income. The reality is that I love my children and their mother and I do what I have to to take care of them. It just bothered me that she was giving some of it away. But a few brutha's made a good point. It is for a good cause, so I will live with it.

Does she also pay income tax on this? Many churches stress the biblical requirement to tithe, or to give 10% of one's income. You will not be able to dissuade her from doing that, except possibly by arguing that the child support is not income, but simply money held in trust by her, to provide for your children's needs. If you simply reduce the amount (It does sound excessive, even if you make plenty) she will still feel compelled to give 10% to her church.
I doubt that you would be able to claim that she is mismanaging or misusing your child support, and get any relief from the court. The courts will probably not see compelling need or justification to interfere.
Here is another plan... get the amount of child support reduced, and put the difference into some sort of trust, for education, clothing, whatever. How old are the kids? Old enough to manage a little money without making a mess of it?
I think I would be upset, too. You are paying that preacher's car note and then some, and you don't even go to that church? But I really don't know what you can really do about it.
Love
Anna

that's really stupid. i would take bigun's advice and get it lowered, and then take that 1300 a month and put it into some type of fund for the children. child support should be going to children IMO and not some church. what the hell does a church need 10% of your income for anyways? scotch? kiddie porn? the reverend's new caddy?

You sound like a really good guy. Your wife sounds like a good lady. Just remember, she's setting a good example for the kids. It's better that it goes to the church that to a Louis Vuitton bag.

i don't agree with that. i don't feel like the churches have anything to offer.

There's a politics/war/religion section if you guys wanna argue about church. Think the guys just wanted advice on how he should handle the situation. I'd say, if you can live with it and she is a good mother, what's 500$ a month to you when she is already getting 13K. Big deal, hopefully they are using the money for good.

I think thats alittle crazy. If you're giving her enough money that she doesn't need to work and can give alot of it away she shouldnt be getting that much. The donations should be made in your name not hers IMO.

Thanks to all who responded. I guess I needed to hear others opinions and maybe calm me down a bit. Today is a new day and its the holidays. I'm not going to sweat this right now. My kids would see the stress. And to those who commented about "at least its going to a good cause", I think I can live with that thought and drop it. Again, I appreciate all the comments.
