Window Media Player format to AVI or MPG2

Hey guys how do you convert Windows media player files to AVI or MPEG2 I
have alot of WMP videos that I would like to have in DVD but my Mac can't
burn any WMP file into DVD format, I would like to know if it's possible to do
this job? If so which programs do you guys use to convert that? I'm thinking
about buying a windows machine but damn I hate windows...
Thanks in advance for any reply to this ladies and gents!

for wmv to mpeg 2 = tmpg Encode - do a goole search - you can find hacked copies on any file sharing network.

for avi to mpeg 2 - VSO Divx to DVD converter - I think I have a free trial version that just never expired and works great - this process takes a long time though 2-3 hours for a full mpeg 2 from avi - if you are talking enough time to fill a dvd.
