    motorcycle insurance

I was thinking about getting a motorcycle to save money on gas. Anyone know the price range for liability insurance?

I know State farm only looks at the size of the motor and not the value or type of bike. Its preferred among the sport bike riders.

Me and my brother are both thinking of getting them. I am 25 and he is 20 so the range for each age would be nice. I think we are both just going to get 250cc honda cruisers just to get around town. btw i dont like hybrids.

Bah, Ninja 250. Only those that ride will know what a POS it is.

Liability is generally fairly low on a motorcycle because you normally don't do as much damage to something when you hit it compared to a car/truck. Some companies will up-rate the crotchrockets or other high pro bikes but still you should not be paying too much.

    Rates vary based on
type of bike (crotch rockets are higher than cruisers and standards)
cc's of engine (bigger engines cost more)
    age of driver
    years of riding experience
    value of bike

you'll get a few $$$ off if you have a motorcycle safety riding class (your local motorcycle dealer should be able to tell you where your local classes are)

I wouldn't get insurance through State Farm . . . they quoted me $900 for my Vulcan 500. Progressive quoted me $100. Ya, prices vary quite a bit . . .

If you're going for a Honda 250, I'd bet that you'd be happier with the Nighthawk than the cruiser. It'll be a bit more agile and more comfortable on longer rides.

A bike will only go as fast as you make it.I learned on a 500.It was a good size and I didnt get bered with it that quick. The problem with starting on a 250 is within a few months you will want somthing bigger. If you can afford it a 250 is fine to learn on.Good luck
