Woohoo! Bought a 40" LCD HDTV!!

I posted in another thread I was thinking about it. Went ahead and ordered it today.

    40" BRAVIA™ XBR® LCD Flat Panel HDTVKDL-V40XBR1

    http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...=feature&var2=

WEGA Engine™ technology: Delivers superb picture quality from any video source by minimizing the signal deterioration caused by digital-to-analog conversion and stabilizing the signal processing. The engine features unique Sony technology, including:

    • The first step in the digital processing system, Composite Component Processor2, which enhances input signal-to-noise ratio by chroma decoder digital processing.

    • Digital Reality Creation® (DRC)® Multifunction V1 Circuitry Unlike conventional line doublers, the DRC Multifunction feature replaces the signal’s NTSC waveform with near-HD equivalent by digital mapping processing. The DRC Palette option lets you customize the level of detail (Reality) and smoothness (Clarity) to create a customized picture that is optimized for signal quality, viewing conditions and personal preference.

    • WEGA GATE™ Easy Operation Guide is a new feature that allows you to easily navigate to the most convenient TV functions: favorite channels, TV channel list, external input list or settings.

    • Integrated HDTV you can watch digital television programs and enjoy the improved audio/video quality offered by these programs.

    • S-master Full Digital Amplifier® delivers superb clear dialog and reproduces the original sound quality while minimizing any sound fragmentation or jitter noise.

    • PC Input allows you to connect your PC and display the PC screen on your TV.

    • ATSC Integrated Tuner allows the reception of local, off-air digital broadcasts providing the viewing of free, true high-definition network programming without the addition of a set top box or a monthly fee.

    • CableCARD™ Slot provides cable subscribers with access to digitally encrypted cable channels - without the need for a set-top box - that will enable you to receive not only standard definition but also high definition television. The CableCARD, which is provided by your cable TV provider, is inserted into the TV’s rear panel CableCARD slot. After the service is activated with your cable TV company, the card replaces the need for a separate set-top box.

    • Wide Screen Mode allows you to watch 4:3 normal broadcasts in wide screen mode (16:9 aspect ratio).

    • Favorite Channels with the WEGA GATE function, allows you to navigate a list of up to 16 favorite channels without leaving the current channel.

    • CineMotion® technology using the reverse 3-2 pull down technology, the Cinemotion feature provides smoother picture movement when playing back movies or other video sources on film.

    • Steady Sound® feature equalizes volume levels so there is consistent output between programs and commercials.

    • HDMI™1 Interface (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) provides an uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface between the TV and any HDMI-equipped audio/video component, such as a set-top box, DVD player, and A/V receiver. HDMI supports enhanced, or high-definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio.

    • Parental Control (V-Chip) allows parents to block unsuitable programming from younger viewers.

    • Component Video Input offers the best video quality for DVD (480p and 480i), and digital set-top box (1080i, 720p, 480p and 480i) connections.
    • Invisible speaker design space-saving and delivers dynamic sound.

    • Light Sensor allows the picture brightness level to be optimized to ambient light. The effect from the Light Sensor depends on the setting of Picture Mode and Power Saving. The factory setting is Off.

    • Caption Vision/Info Banner allows Closed Caption and/or Channel Programming Information to be displayed.
    • Warranty 1 Year Parts and Labor

Those of you with LCDs. Did you do the installation yourself or get in professionally installed. Considering having it professionally done. My worst fear is not mounting it correctly and having it fall off the wall.

Carlos that shit is nice. I'm going to order the 42 or 50" panasonic plasma. But I would rather pay some extra dollars and get it mounted right. I don't wanna make any extra or wrong holes in my wall.

From what I saw in the show room, they're not making Plasmas any more. Just LCDs. I know they had Plasmas last fall.

Id like to buy this one for sure. Not to big and not to small. It also depends how far you are going to be from the TV and how big your house is. Carlos how much can you get me this one for with a % going in your pocket as well.

Good call Carlos. I wont go with a TV unless it's a Sony WEGA/XBR. I have a WEGA from a few years ago, best picture quality at the time. Love them.

If you are a college/nfl fan a HDTV is a MUST. I have a 65" Mitsubishi, picture not as sharp as a LCD but damn good, I can't complain.

The 46" isn't shipping yet. The guy in the show room told me it starts shipping in late May. I asked if there was a 46" XBR and he said not till late fall so I said **** it and got the 40" XBR. If I want the 46" when it comes out I'll get it and sell the 40".

    PM me your email.

Not sure what I'm going to do about the Tivo yet.

The LCD has a cable card slot. You can get a card from the cable company and not have to use the cable company's HD box. But I want to go with a satellite. I have to check and see if the card slot works with satellite to.

Go to a store and check it out. They have a 26" and 32". Unless you're in a studio apartment I think that is too small.
