Dog ate my wife's engagement diamond....

So here I am working away (I work at home) and my little dog walks up to me with something in her mouth. This is not uncommon. She lays right next to my office chair and continues to play with whatever's in her mouth. Whatever's in her mouth doesn't sound like something that should be in there so I wrestle it out of her mouth. I damn near throw up when I see it's a diamond that very much resembles the engagement diamond that I bought my wife before we got married! It's a princess cut (square shaped) diamond and right around the size of the one that I bought her (2 karat). I immediately pick up the phone and call my wife's classroom as she is a school teacher. I asked her to look at her ring finger and she responds by saying, "It's fine." I was like, "What????".

Come to find out....one of my wife's 3rd grade students had brought a fake diamond to school and was playing with it when he shouldn't have been. So she took it from him and failed to return it to him when school was released that day. She ended up forgetting that it was in her pocket so it must have fallen out in the laundry or something. So the dog found it today and damn near gave me a heart attack.

I thought that those of you who have emptied your pockets on an engagement ring might enjoy this story.

    Grace and peace,
