    Favourite Book

Just wondering, what's everyones favourite book of all time, whether it be fictional, educational, inspirational or otherwise?

    That's difficult.

Gonna have to go with book 4 of Stephen King's The Dark Tower: Wizard and Glass.

    I'll kickstart this thread off.

My favourite book is one of pure fiction but such a superbly written, different story...The Gunslinger by Stephen King.

Phishstash, that's freaky considering what I just put O_O

Yeah, the whole series is brilliant, but the first was just so good.

"The man in black fled across the desert and the gunslinger followed."

OMG f*cking insane, dude. Hell yea, I knew I was a dork for loving King's fictions but to see others who like it, RIGHT ON! The whole series is def f*cking amazing. I just finished book 6...ready to start 7! I need to go buy it, first.

Have you heard the audio version?

You haven't read the last one yet!!! That was nearly my favourite of the series but the first book just pips it in my opinion.

    Yeah, Roland is BAD ASS!!

Nah, never listened to the audio though I've been looking! King himself narates huh?

Yep. If you have LimeWire or a torrent-sharing client I'm positive you can find the recordings.

I'll give that a go then. I've popped into loads of WHS, Waterstones, etc but never found any Dark Tower tapes.

Importance of being Ernest (It's a play)

    Oscar Wilde

It has a lot of funny lines.

"I do not approve of anything that tampers with natural ignorance. Ignorance is like a delicate exotic fruit; touch it and the bloom is gone."

"The only way to behave to a woman is to make love to her, if she is pretty, and to some one else, if she is plain. "

Would have to say Catch 22 by Joseph Heller and I'm so not a sci-fi freak but Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card was a very good read.

Someone mentioned Of Mice and Men? Quality book. Though very dark, I read Trainspotting in 2 days.

I read The Hobbit while I was trekking/living in the Himalayas years ago, sureal experience.

I'm glad someone else said it first

I could lie and say something intense and sophisticated but I seriously enjoyed the Harry Potter series... it took me to a place that I haven't been to since I was little. It was a nice feeling.
