Best thing to do is to pick up a book. Look up Java programming or javascript programming tutorial's.

www.w3schools.com is a very good place to learn programming and such. I have a JavaScript Bible ebook that might be very useful. PM me if you're interested.

depends on your knowledge. It's more like video editing than code really. It's like video editing + 3d graphix editing all rolled into one. It came to me pretty hard cus i have no artist talent at all and it does require some what of a good eye unless you are just going to make easy menu's and things like that :P I'd say on a scale of 1 to 10... 1 being the easiest. I'd put it at 8. For a frame of reference, I put studying for RHCE (redhat certified engineer) at an 8 also and mcse at about a 4. For the record... i failed RHCE :P

Well there's several Java functions. There are Java Servlet Plugins, Java Applets, and JavaScript, I know all of them but not sure which youre trying to use.

    javascript is rediculously easy

its just a matter of looking up the syntax

a good program is more about the alogorisms

best about javascript is that you can do it in notepad and then open it with ie and test it out, dont need any programs to run it that you dont have

Javascript is bad for that very reason, its a client executed language, nothing is hidden. Either learn ASP or PHP.

Most companies will want a Cross platform development which is why almost every job interview i go in for looks for J2EE and JSP.

I use html kit or eclipse software for programming. just google it and you can find it anywhere, but don't pay for it you can get if for free.
