Hey yall i have a problem with my lap top, I "aquired" a lap top at a very cheap price, the problem is the "company" that had it put a password on it and they didnt tell my source hence the cheap price can anyone tell me how i can find out how to get into it without me having to go back to the place i got it from.

What is the model of the laptop....... some have jumpers to re-set it, others you can pull the battery for awhile.

Also, just to make sure is this password for windows or the one for the actual system at boot?

Sounds like stolen goods to me. If it is and it has been reported and you take it to computer shop to get it reset they can catch you. I saw this happen with one of my employees in India.

Well there are ways to getting around it I bought a password breaker cd from ebay ! works type in password for ebay .Yeah try the safemode method you can sometimes getin and change the password through that if its not locked in systems admin .I had people down the city where I work at that used to bring laptops to me and couldnt refuse the price from crackheads lol !

Safemode is your best bet for windows. For system, pull the jumper, and move it to the rest position. Then turn on the power. Then turn off power. Plug jumper back to normal position and bios is cleared.
