Have you ever started a conversation with someone
And knew it could go bad or good and really didn't know how to steer it back in the right direction?

usually those conversations involve speaking with the opposite sex. something gets lost in the translation.

Personally I've always been a good "bullshiter" so I could sway the conversation either way. Confidence helps.

I hate it when you start a conversation and it's just perfect then for some reason it goes south and you feel awkward as hell.

I've been told many times i'm a great conversationist..
but there are times... 2 pop up in my mind real quick.. one a couple years ago, and one actually a few days ago.. where basically i took dumb big risks with the subject.. and both ended up in convo failure/tortourous misery LOL
Basically don't tell people things that you would only tell people u knew for years LOL. it yields high risk\very low reward. 2nd don't be an asshole even if u think u might be able to get away with it, unless u really know the person well.

Well the person in question talked to me today again - note to self - when ex's contact you 2 years after you dated - it's usually not for a damn good reason
Here is an exert from today's conversation
L : hey, you get up early
me : hi u, ya I do
me : i go to the gym at 4am
L : ah, that explains it..
me : i guess ur dont sleep alot either
L : nope...
me : ahh. you thinking too much or just sleep troubles
L : hormones..lol
L : once you get a serious hard on, you have to take care of it or you won't sleep
L : lol
me : im a girl.. we don’t have that problem - we dont get hard ons
L : yes i'm well aware..lol
me : haha plus the gym helps get rid of some of my energy
L : good point
I left MSN at this point..

I think the worst time I can think of was when I caught my ex girlfriend in bed with another hot chick! Things could have worked out alot better for me if I didnt screw things up from my obvious immediate anger. I tried to play it off, but could not get things back on track. As I mentioned she is now my ex. She would have been anyway, but I wish I had better memories or her and her friend.

that reminds me of a conversation I had with my wife the other day.. she was telling me she loved me and I slipped and said "Look at that chicks tits.. WOW!!" The conversation went south for some reason.
J/K
I have had conversations in business that I was trying to explain something and went way off track and lost a deal.. One time in particular I was talking to a new client about their website and what I could do for them.. Things were going great and I said "well I know we can make the site look much more professional than what you currently have" she came back and said.. "I built that site myself" ooops.. insert foot in mouth.. I was like.. ummm.. well it's not that bad since you don't have much time to work on it.. ummm ummm. Well over all it worked out fine and they have been a client for almost 5 years now.
