The big M..gasp... opinions on ring choice?

Well, after 3 years Ive decided to do the unmentionable. I think I am after the 3 diamond engagement ring...can I get you opinions?

I really dont like any of them but i chose option 1 out of the 3.

If I was you, I would go to a jeweler and have a custom ring made. It says a lot more then your traditional store bought ring.

I picked # 1, but you need to fit it to her personality too. A custom made one of a kind would say alot.
Good Luck! I wish you all the best in your new life together!!

#2. I don't like the third one much myself and the first one isn't bad but #2 seems to stand out.

Haven't completely decided on it, but the center stone will be at least .5, I think I will be shooting for .6 or so with .75 being the largest. The side stones being a bit smaller. The one I played around with online came out to:

    Center - .60 carat - F color, VS2
    Side - .25 carat - E color, VS1
    Side - .25 carat - E color, VS1

    Total carat = 1.10

All are GIA certified and either ideal cut or very close to, meaning all are "very good" cuts. This one set in 18K white gold priced out to $3615 at bluenile.com

I was just using them as a reference. You have any suggestions? One thing I require are that the diamonds be GIA or EGL certified. I'm open to buying the diamonds from 1 supplier and the setting from another. I can get it set locally or even buy the setting locally. Diamond prices I cant get good enough locally.

where do you live? a road trip may be worth your while i mean i saw a 1 carat diamond ring at zales(overpriced as well) with the same cut and clarity you listed for a shade above 2500k in a white gold setting. a large jewerly exchange may be your best bet. your lucky you can get away with a ring that size. my gf's sister just got a 1.75 carat ring that is basically flawless. Told her husband to be, whom im very good friends, with "thanks dick for setting the bar so high". I think im gonna be looking at 2 carat rings this time next year lol!!!!

Yea, I wouldnt marry a girl that had such picky requirements to start with.

    Thankfully she likes simple/elegant stuff.

remember she will wear this forever and regardless of what women say - they don't care about the size of the diamond..

In the long run i think it matters..

Think about how you feel when you got a shit box for a car and all your friends have mercedes..

And if when i decide to marry my future husband can't afford the ring i want, i'm totally cool with not having one. (i've been engaged before and the ring was exactly what i wanted)

    I'm always willing to upgrade.

I do like your suggestions/style. Thats why I think I may like the one with the baguettes the most. It's essentially as solitare design with just a little extra flare. The straight solitare is a little too simple, imo.

Here is the biggest problem with the round solitare with side baguettes....The girl I dated in HS and college (total of 5 years) I gave a promise ring to of the same design (solitare with baguettes). Not sure if it'd be considered a little weird to get the same style ring.

you mean upgrade in the future?

I don't think most women want to part with the initial ring..

It won't have the same value.

i'm sticking to the choice of the one i posted myself.

But by the way i don't think it's weird to ahve a similar choice of the one you bought some chick when you were a kid. (sorry if it sounds harsh but it's true)

Well, I went to a local jeweler. I dont think they will be able to touch the prices of online diamond brokers. I may buy a GIA/EGL certified diamond from an online broker and have my local jeweler put it in a setting.

ideal cut .75 for 2k. I think my local dealer would be looking at closer to the 3k range for this:

Get her the first! Why has it gotta be one of those?

I prefer a single diamond look classier imo!

this is the other one I have picked out... I agree with Miz, theres something very classy, the band will be cheaper which you could invest to the stone... 1 carrot is the magic number, but I have been looking at the prices of a .98 etc and they drop dramatically compared to a 1 carrot
