Or you can get webroot without paying if you have an IQ over 60.

and if you had an iq over 70 you would know even if you downloaded it for free, you won't be able to get updates which are crucial as new crap is always coming out. hmm....

i've only tried a couple, but ad-aware is a great one. they update very frequently, at least every couple weeks, usually more often than that.
a great place to compare and see reviews is www.download.com. another place is www.tucows.com. at both those sites, you can see what people had to say about specific adware removal progs.
personally, i think ad-aware is plenty enough.

Ad-aware and spybot are great. They both find different things, so I would recomend both. They are free too.

Webroot spy sweeper is very good and i also pay for it. My iq must be below thugs because i was told you cannot get it free with all the updates and i renew every year or so.

Yes ad-aware is an "ok" spyware adware program, but it will not clean up the tuff stuff that will really slow your PC (Not to note the services running in the background that it will not catch). remember it is free. I work IT and have helped many people on virus and spyware solutions and the best I've seen is Webroot Spy Sweeper for spyware/adware and Bit-Defender for antivirus.

Both bit-defender and Spysweeper can be bought at or even under $30 , well worth it and even very competitive with the prices. Yes free scanners can help if you are very very safe with your PC and they can help with some things. But I have warned people in the past that sure the free software can handle some crappy little trojans and such, but when you get hit with something real...good luck. Well they ended up loosing data and reformating their PC. They now use comercial software

I recommend Ad-Aware and spybot ran one after another at least once a week if you are a heavy user. Also be sure to immunize with spybot, that helps to prevent a lot of things before they start.
Microsoft Defender is decent too.
Another must have in your spyware/browser hijacker toolkit is hijackthis.exe, but I really only recommend it for users with a little more expirience.

Spybot isnt as good as it seems, I have ran scans with it and it come up negative on customer machines then use either Ewido or Spysweeper and they find a ton that werent detected. Ewido was purchased by Grisoft who makes the free AVG anti-virus and are offering a free version of it as well.

Yeah that will do it..plus firefox is a web browser, its not going to protect you from installed applications and such..or the biggest problem that no software can fix, the user

I actually mirrored a free trial of Webroots Spysweeper that allows you to get updates
here
Just a little site I added several different downloads too.

I have not found one programme that is really effective. IMO you need to run about 3-4 different ones as they all find certain adware/trojans and miss others. Even then you may still find it necessary to download a specific tool for some of the more malicious pieces of adware such as homepage hijacker ect.

Internet Explorer IE has so many vulnerabilities that the list is too long to even write. One major fault is that it is installed on your computer when you buy it. Because of this, it's the most popular. Hackers and spyware creators devote their time on what's popular.
FireFox is still less popular and most spyware programs installed as you are unaware, from websites that you visit were developed for people that use IE.
Plus FireFox has a builtin software blocker to prevent this shit from happening if it does still try to install on your computer. So when someone uses FireFox, the install command is totally ignored because it is trying to communicate with IE.Last edited by Lavinco; 08-02-2006 at 02:20 PM.

Try not looking at so much free porn online, that should eliminate the problem completly. Let's just be honest with ourselves here
