chest pains after workouts. little concerned.
well, i'm waiting to see a doc and get bloodwork done to see what's up, but this is really starting to concern me. i get these dull aching feelings in chest on the left side about an hour or two after my workouts. i usually don't get them any other time of the day, but they can last sometimes for hours, all the way until i go to sleep that night.
while working out, i have no problems, but this aching has seemed to become more recurrent lately after the workouts.
i had checked out a doc at one point about this problem and she ran an ekg and said it checked out fine. however, the pain seems to come deep from within my chest on the left side right where my heart is.
i know it's not heartburn cause i know what heartburn feels like. it also doesn't seem muscular cause moving around doesn't affect it in any way.
just wanted to drop a line on here about it cause until the doc can see me, i'm just left not knowing what the problem is. hopefully nothing major but at this point, i really don't know.

well just to update, went to the doctor today. did an ekg (again), and everything showed up perfectly normal. they did blood work, and everything came out fine as well. he said one thing did show up a little high, but he said with bb's, that's typical. so, still left in the dark as for what my issue is.
the next step they told me is to get a stress test done. have to try to set up an appointment for that, but the problem is that with those, they simply have you do cardio during the testing. cardio doesn't cause me the pains, working out does, and doesn't start until about an hour or two afterwards, so not sure if even the stress test will show anything.
hopefully them not finding anything so far is a good thing, but as much as i hate to say it, this does seem it may be heart related. so frustrating too as i finally start working out again and now this. well, hopefully i'll be able to get that stress test done soon, and maybe i'll workout before it so that by the time i get there, i'll be having the issues.

Get the stress test! I get mine Thursday. I get one every 6 months. Cardio
Doc's can tell you a lot more than a regular doctor.
The only real way to know 100% is an angiogram. That will tell you to the
percentage how much each artery is clogged.
If your cholesterol is in check and your blood pressure is perfect. I don't
think you need to worry about anything. I got 3 stents in heart and one stent inside a stent that broke. Cardio is more important that I thought.

I just had an EKG, Echocardiogram, Stress Echocardiogram and a 24 hour holter monitor put on. I would ask the DR for a Stress ECHO because they read heart rythems and BP as well as take a picture of the stressed heart and that seems to be causing the discomfort you are feeling. The holter reads the rythem of the heart for 24 hrs

though they're not showing up in the blood work or the ekg they did, it may simply be because i wasn't experiencing it at the time. i had almost hoped they would find something when i got checked today, cause not knowing is driving me crazy.

My pain was also on the left side and felt deep. Anyway go to your doctors get it checked out. They might not be able to tell you anything else. If that's the case just try to block it out. Don't let it mess with your daily life.
Good luck to you bro, i wish you the best.

[QUOTE=ascendant]though i'd like to think i don't have anything to worry about, the pain is become more frequent. almost every time i workout i get it afterwards to some degree or another. also, cholesterol and bp aren't the only causes of heart issues. it could be a heart abnormality in regards to rythmn or a similar abnormality. some abnormalities are harmless, while others could potentially trigger cardiac arrest. those are the kinds of things i'm concerned about.

This is the kind of thinking i'm talking about. It's going to **** with your head. The stuff you do mention i do not believe will cause actual pain in the area though.
But if you really want answers get a 24hr heart monitor. It's like a mini ekg you wear on your side. You also need to carry around a pen and paper to write down all the stressfull shit you do while wearing the device. Talk with your doctor about that.. it will give you peace of mind at least.

right, hopefully after the stress test if it shows nothing that would be their next step is the 24hr test.
well, the number the doctor gave me as a referral for the stress test turned out to be worthless. they said that they don't do the stress tests at their clinic. called a cardiologist to set up an appt and they say without a referral with the exact test to do they can't do squat for me. called the doc back about the issue and nobody there seemed to know what to do and seemed to have difficulty differenciating between their ass and their elbow. had to leave a message at a desk that handles the follow-ups and am waiting to hear back from them. pretty bad when a doc doesn't even refer you to the right place.

the doc i went to told me to lay off the working out till i find out what the problem is. i laughed . at least he was funny. until i know that this is something serious, not gonna happen. just started working out again and not about to stop now. besides, working out seems to aggravate whatever it is, so by aggravating whatever it is and getting it checked out then might seem to be the best bet.
well, i'll keep you guys posted of any changes. thanks for all the support guys, it's much appreciated.
