Day At The Gym
Do you ever feel like you are the only serious lifter at your gym??
I go to a pretty decent gym/tennis/aerobics club. Its the second largest in my town. The larger one is for the social pussies that go there to look like they are doing something , anyway, I always look around at the people working out because I used to be a personal trainer and it is habit for me to watch their form and everything. So, there are a bunch of high school kids out for the summer wearing there shorts and tank tops tryin to look good for the girls. Only ever see them working chest and bis, and with bad form as well. Then you have the women, wearing there short shorts and low cut tops and wondering why they are getting starred at while they are using the leg press machine as their couchie is hangin out. Then you have the senior citizens who go from machine to machine in no perticular order ( at least they are there doing something) Then you have the middle aged guys, that wear the shorts and muscle shirts, that after years of lifting, look so out of porportion because their upper bodies are nice, arms are veiny and large biceps, but have toothpicks for legs!! I just don't get it??????
Then there is ME, I wear long sweats, and the largest shirts I can find to keep covered up. I figure I am there to get BIG not to show off. I deadlifted today, and you would swear, no one has ever seen it done before....lolol
Maybe its just me, but it seems that most people don't have a clue as to how to really work out, either that or they are just there to socialize
OK, Rant is over. Thanks for listening, Have a great weekend my AR brothers and sisters!!

I know what you're talking about. My old gym was like that. Everyone doing chest and then biceps in the squat rack. I'd do cleans off the floor in front of one of the two squat racks and I might as well have been shitting on the floor with the looks people gave me. This gym actually had a rule of no loud grunting or banging of weights, LOL. Needless to say I didn't stay there long, but hey, it was cheap!

Man, I work out at my school's gym. Granted there are a few guys there who are serious, know what they're doing, and lift with me sometimes. The rest, and I'm in no way being prejudice (I'm half black and half white, anyway) but especially most of the indian kids in there come to do like medicine ball decline sit ups and like 3 other sets in the Nautilus machines and just stare at me while I lift trying to figure out what I'm doing.
It's annoying as f*ck and I wanna people's heads and smash them through the mirrors on the wall.
I now just wear a hat down over my eyes so I can hardly see anything else but what's directly in front of me and listen to my iRiver. All is well.

i know all too well what you're talking about bro. i've been in a lot of gyms, and have seen the serious weightlifter gyms, and have seen the meat-markets.
the one i'm in right now is actually pretty good. it doesn't have an aerobics room, so not many women. this deters the pervs that just come in to look at the chicks and keeps the members as more of a serious genre. there is however a lot of powerlifters though. considering i'm a bodybuilder, it's a completely different world and sometimes i feel a bit out of place at this gym.
i do kind of miss the chicks though. always nice to look at between sets to kill some time and an extra incentive for me to drag my ass in the gym during those days when you just wanna go home and sleep. so long as you don't neglect your workout for an occasional glimpse of hotties, i see nothing wrong with that.
