You still have to find people to train, who are most likely members of chain gyms. These gyms do not let you as an independent train at their facilities.
I fail to understand how you can find enough people to train who are not members of a gym? Exactly where do you train these people?
thanks

Do it on the NET!
This way the world is your's and you aren't confined to a store-front property.
I was going to train locally, but there ain't my kind of money in that.

P.S.
It's hard on the Net because you have to work years to "PROVE" yourself, and you need to be people savy, have great communication skills, a myriad of communication pathways, and most of all, PICTURES OF YOURSELF to show what you know.
That is key, then again, I was meant to do this as God had a plan for me, so I'm very blessed and I am thankful each day that I live as good as I do.

Now in your free session prove yourself to the customer and use that to sell them on a training package.

I can't say I would agree with that statement. The company I work for pays top trainers 28 bucks an hour plus commissions and bonuses.
Sure it may look like you make more money as a private trainer but then you have to consider gas expenses, car maintainance, inconsistancy, insurance(which you'd be nuts to not get), having to spend time and money marketing yourself etc. Not to say you can't be successful doing it, but it takes a lot more work and can add quite a bit of unneeded stress to your life.
Whereas if you work for a facility like mine you're always guaranteed to have clients supplied to you(my job), benefits, no travel expenses, no insurance costs, you get paid even if your clients cancel and basically a consistant paycheck. Both have their advantages and disadvantages but from the point of view of someone that has done both, I would just go with a big gym.
If you'd like a combination of the two there are gyms that hire you and charge you 15 bucks an hour flat rate regardless of how much you decide to charge your clients.
