manual labor jobs
how man ppl here work demanding jobs that put stress on your body? I just got a part time job working at a warhouse moving shit where its like 100 degrees lifting shit all day long. i swear the first day i worked i lost at least 5lbs. within 3 days i noticed my arms were smaller. the only positive is i see my back and shoulders getting bigger. i do full body lifting twice a week so i still have time to lift. has anybody actaully got more ripped from working these jobs

I work for the Dept of Public Works and we're not union and we bust our asses ALLLLLL day long starting at 6am....literally we start at 6am and the hardwork begins 5 minutes later. My job consists of hauling ass 6-7 miles a day on foot 5 days a week.....the slowest you can go is a fast walk but most of the time you're running. That takes a total of 2-3 hours....that's just the beginning of our day. There is tons of work to do after that which is ALWAYS heavy lifting and fast work. It sucks ass and I get paid dick but hey I dont have a degree which is my own fault.

F*ck that, I used to move furniture and work for a Facilities Dep't at a college doing moves and stuff. Never did I feel so bad in my life.
Sucked balls hardcore. Now I sit behind my cpu and grow/eat while I help 100's, and I'll never do anything else.

worked construction for 2 summers. 5am til 6 pm. it was the hardest job i've evr had. other than the hard work. i always worked out in the sun, and that really exhausts you too. but now i mentor for biology at my university and its pretty nice to get paid to help people out. i bet you feel some great self-fulfillment swole, and others who help many people everyday. it is a great feeling. that's why i have much respect for my bros here. even if i am a dipshit somedays. its just tough going through school in a very competitive major and trying to diet and keep a good physique at the same time. ramble? i think so

I drive a concrete truck and it's not 2 bad, we get loaded at the plant and then drive to the jobsite, we dump our load and then head back to the plant to get another load, it's a union outfit and we make pretty good money with pension and anuity, my truck has ac and i only have to get out to wash down at the end of the pour, but in the summer when it's really hot out there can be major problems like the load getting hot and running out of water wich for a concrete truck driver is a nightmare because if we run out of water and the load starts to cook and the contractor is taking 2 long we will have no water to wash down and the load can set in the barrel of the truck and then some guy has to go in there with a jackhammer to get all the hardened concrete out of the barrel. One day it was like 95 degrees out and the pump on one of the trucks broke (the pump is what turns the barrel) and the whole load 12cu yards hardened up and the whole barrel had to be tossed.

Legend has it.....
I've heard that Lou Ferrigno worked full time as a Iron Worker then lifted a night. I don't know if it's true but the body can take alot of punishment especially if you can feed it right and sleep. We're designed to walk 20 miles a day consisting on a berry or two for days until the hunt proved successful. I framed houses for a few years and even if I cannot make it to the gym, I am surprised that my strength stays pretty constant as long as I'm not the foreman and am luggin awkward lumber all day. It's like a full body in itself.

I wash cars at a dealership (Lexus/Nissan/BMW). I work with 4 other guys from 3-9PM mon-fri., and 7-6PM sat. On an average day I wash about 40 cars. Factor in 90 degrees with humidity and somedays I'll lose 5 pounds of water weight. Its a great job for school though because of the hours. Afterwards I'm fried and its off to bed.

I do roofing, hauling 60 bundles of 80lb 3 tabs around all day it gets demanding. I think it's fine as long as you are not causing stress to your joints though.
The most important thing is to just keep the fuel in the tank, you'll probably want to consume more calories.
Over training/over working IMO has always been over used by lazy people. If you are getting enough sleep and proper nutrition you only will gain.

i worked in a pharamacuetical palce bring materials in on pallets weighing the materials, combining them and shipping them out. I spend 70% of my day lifting, push, pulling amd scooping etc. It was a pain in the ass. HPLC is a bitch to scoop. It is like hard icecream straight out of the freezer. I would ahve to scoop like 500kg of that stuff per campaign one scoop and then one bag at a time.
