Yes, surfing is a nice back workout and the triceps and shoulders are getting involved too.
I never saw muscle increase because of surfing and still prefer the workout at the gym, but maybe, after 3 days of surfing I'll skip the back-workout to prevent overtraining.
If you have a look at some hawaiian locals or Laird Hamilton, you'll see that surfing is a nice workout![]()
Yeah, a lot of sports will attack muscles we dont allways hit in the gym. I always notice soreness after water skiing, horse back riding or even a day a cayaking.
Speaking of Laird, do ya'll think he's ever juiced? I know one thing, he's one bad mofo. Check out his dvd "Laird".
I love surfing. I lived in Newport Beach, CA for six years. The "wedge" was an insane place to rip. My arms and back really toned up when I surfed consistantly.

I've seen more people get injured by surfing then bodybuilding. So I guess I will skit the surf.
