Had to pass on an awesome job
I was offered an increddible job for this popular supplement company (im gonna leave out the name), traveling around the country promoting their products, and going to shows working at the booths and what not, including the olympia, the arnold etc etc, paid travels/hotel/etc etc, but I had to pass because im in school full time
My dad made a good point though, it was offered once, it will be there again and even better when i get my degree.
what does everyone do for work?

Im sure something like that will come along again, dont worry. What are you going to school for?
I work for a caterpillar rental store as the parts manager. The job is ok and the pay is ok but it gets pretty boring after a while. Im not sure if i will stay with this company but we'll see.

yah i messed up too by not going to school.. I got caught up in too much debt and had to get a good paying job..
So I'm in a union, in one of the largest companies in the world been there for 3 years now, and worked in 3 different departments.. pay is pretty good, I'm 26 and i make more than the average 26 year old.. but.. upside is not great.. i pull in 65k but it will never be 100k unless we get insane inflation LOL.
so I'm goin for a CDL license now, i can get it free from the company i work with.. and that will automatically give me a raise so i'll be makin bout 70k once i start driving for them..
but I wanna jump into management at the company, dont have any kidz so i can take the risk... thats really why I'm getting the CDL, the CDL will give me some security in case the management doesnt work out, cause management is non-union so need something to fall back on.
anyways i'd be takin a pay cut at first, but 1 promotion and they almost make 6 fixures, a second promotion and they make 6 figures there, so thats what i'm shooting for.,.
I got some college education in Finance, but will wanna finish that and get a B.A once I jump into lower tier management..
Thats my plan to try to correct the best I can the mistake of not going to college right after high school LOL.Last edited by Pooks; 07-29-2006 at 09:02 AM.

65k a year for a single 26 yr old is a great pay!
luckly I have a reasonably well off family, so my college is covered without any debt in my hands, but I cant wait to get out and start a life of my own

even if u just stay a supervisor all your life, which is the lowest form of management here.. this one guy was a supervisor for 20 years at gillette and than came over here, and because of all the previous experience he started off at 70k a year... on the other hand, a fresh out of UNH business major with no experience does the same job at 50k a year, and thats after an initial salary of 35k a year trial period that lasts like 6 months. some after the trial period get the raise, and those hang around, others get it denied and they usually tend to quit not long after that.Last edited by Pooks; 07-29-2006 at 09:17 AM.

When I was 26 I was making about one dollar an hour in the Army-but now I have a pension and I make more money than I can spend doing those things that former soldiers do. Education and hard work in your younger years usually translates in to money when you're a little older.

I'm the manager of a gym in one of the biggest canadian chains. I just got promoted to this location from being the assistant manager at another. I was recently unofficially offered a job with musclemag doing some sales and promoting. I'm not sure if it's worth making the switch but I might consider looking into what's available.
