Advice on tanning beds
I go on holiday on the 27th August and am wanting to start on sun beds to get a good tan before I go. Can someone with good experience tell me how many times a week I should go and how long for at a time on the build up to my holiday. I am slightly tanned just now. Sorry Guys if this is not the right place to post this forum.

For your first time i wouldnt go for more than ten minutes. You will most likely burn a little either way but you have to get use to it first. When i first started going i went like 3 times a week once i got use to it and thats basically how i do it now. Sometimes i go 4 times a week. You can also talk to the people that work at the tanning salon, thats what i did and they were very helpfull about it.

It also depends on the strength of the bulbs on the sunbed. Remember to use a lotion. Dry skin hardly ever tans.

A basic hemp seed lotion will do. You could even try ones with added bronzers.

I have a friend that has a tanning bed salon. He has 10 min & 20 min beds.
The 20 min have UVA & UVB rays, the B can burn you & leaves you red looking. With the higher levels of B if you burn, the skin might peel some & can loose some of what you've gained (also won't last as long due to increased cell shedding). The 10 min beds are usually almost all UVA & very little B. If you have no tan, you could get a slight burn, but otherwise you won't & it will give a better tan that won't peel (or shed skin cells as with UVB rays) so it last longer & you don't get the redness. It takes 24-48 hrs for the melanin to reach the surface of the skin which is when you see it effects. One more thing, the 10 beds are usually 3x the cost of the 10 min, but are much stronger intensity thats why its only 10min. You probably wouldn't want to get into a 10min bed that had high levels of UVB.. you'd look like a fried lobster afterwards.
And the, lotion...its a must!!!
Good luck,
