    Which motorcycle jacket?

Time to get a new jacket for the track and street, as usual, im entirely indecisive...what are your thoughts? All have about the same features, including a 360* zipper for pants, etc.

    Alpinestars Stage:

    Alpinestars TZ-1:

    MotoGP Corkscrew:

    Yamaha Urban:

I have a silver/black Yamaha, not sure if i want to do the matching thing, or just go with blue.

Of course. It's what makes you different than a poser/squid.

I don't ride to impress 16 y/o girls and do wheelies all day long down straight roads.

I dont sit and do wheelies to impress anyone.

And around me to "poser/squids" are the dorks in the clown colored leathers. I love when guys dress like they are a pro on the race track when they are riding to the mall.

Where is 'around here'? Anywhere Ive ever lived/ridden, the squids are the idiots riding around with no gear on. The people I know who actually wear gear are the ones who can actually ride on something other than your typical straight road in Florida. I imagine you can even google the term squid. Sportbike apparel is generally designed in this mannor, and I dont fancy all black leathers.

Notice my original post mentions use for the track as well. My gear doubles for both track and street use.

On a side note, what gear do you ride in? My guess is either all black or no gear at all?

I ride in Philly and NJ. I don't wear all kinds of gear. I do for the track because i have to.

there are people with some bad ass bikes around the city and people who can ride and nobody wear all the gear. Maybe some black jackets.

Like i said around me the squid is the guy who went and got the bike and the matching helmet and leathers. He looks like a dork out of the catalog

You don't find too many track goers that will admit to not wearing gear on the street. I question anyone who claims to actually participate in trackdays and says "I wear it because I 'have to'". I wear it, not because I 'have to', but because I appreciate the way my skin looks. What do you think happends to skin when you go sliding across asphalt at 120mph? Do you even know where the term 'squid' comes from? Look at some fresh roadrash and try to think of what sea animal comes to mind.

On a side note, not to insult, but it doesnt surprise me that someone from Jersey would be insulting the idea of protecting yourself while riding. Ive ridden in Jersey before and it seems a good majority of that place thinks the sportbikes sole purpose and design is to stunt on. The average stunter seems to think appropiate gear is shorts, flip flops, and a backwards hat.

With all that said, I'm not one that wear full leathers on the street, but I do always wear a leather jacket when hitting up the twisties.

LOL your funny. Me personally I'm more into drag racing so when i goto the track its usually a drag strip. Yes i have also been to real race track.

I have also ridden and Florida and your making fun of what NJ guys wear. At least they wear helmets.
Personally I'm not into stunts at all so no offense to me. But doing them does take alot of skill. I always did like how they get put down by the guy who thinks hes pro because he wears the same outfit and goes to open track day.

And yes i seen what it looks like when people crash. And really if your on the street you have alot more to worry about then the road rash. I have crashed myself and sadly seen some worse things happen to people i was riding with.

don't get a false sense of security because you have a jacket on

How much do the jackets costs?

I chose #2 because I'm pretty sure if you get one that has white in it, in a few months it will be crappy looking

I'd get one with a back spine protector, tough shoulder pads, etc....

Ive been in an accident at about 40-50mph and I landed on my right side/back area/ knee.

That stuff wouldve saved me aot of pain, skin, etc..

The pros use em and they ride with professional bikers and no 3000lbs idiots who are too old to see or drunk, wouldnt it make sense to wear it??

I think I am leaning towards the Corkscrew as well. The only problem with the Corkscrew is that its a very european cut compared to the rest. It's very slender and fits really snug.

Not a whole lot I have planned for the bike, it's capable of far more than I will ever be able to ride it to. If I do anything in the near future itl be steering stabilizer, rear seat cowl, integrated tail lights. I have a hard time stomaching the cost of performance mods, by the time you spend all the $$ to get maybe a few HP, you can just upgrade to the R1.
