Anyone know what to feed a pet bat?

One of my cats caught this little fella and released him unharmed in my lounge last night, I took him back outside and thought he was OK but I found him tonight crawling around on the floor, his wings seem to be intact but I don't think he can fly.

I don't wanna put him outside again in case my cats nail him, he wouldn't stay still to start with and he's a testy little fucker but now he's hangin' off my finger he seems happy as Larry!

I think he's a long eared bat, anyone know what to feed 'em on?

Are you guessing or have you got bat-rearing experience?

How do you present milk to a bat? - in a saucer?

Do a search on google to find out what they like to eat. I am pretty sure bats are nocturnal and like darkness, it looks pretty well lit where you are holding it, be careful not to kill it.

I just tried releasing it on top of my shed roof, I went out 10 mins later and one of my cats was up on there sniffing at it, it was defending itself pretty well, snapping and squeaking at the cat but it doesn't seem able to fly away so I've put it in my gym/garage overnight.
I killed a fly and offered it to him but he was not impressed - I'm not really sure what to do with the little blighter tomorrow...

use a dropper if the little guy is too small to get to the saucer on his own. found one in the yard one time. the kids next door were beating it out of the hedges with a rake. kept it in a box on the porch for a few days then one day he flew. guess he made it.

Find a local university and email their department. Do it quick before the little thing dies. Sorry for the extra spaces, I couldn't get the format right.

    I googled BAT RESCUE

The only pet cooler than a pet bat would be a pet penguin. Too bad I don't have 3-5K or I could buy one from penguinwarehouse.com.

I googled bats last night and determined that he is a long eared bat, they eat all sorts of beetles, moths and other insects so I caught him a moth and took it to him before I went to bed, I think he was sleeping 'cause he was a bit grouchy, he squeaked and snapped at me as I waved the moth in his face. I left it there and it's gone this morning!
I'm going to email/phone somewhere today and get some sound advice, it was 11.30 last night here when I found him but I'll get some help today.

Here he is in his little furry bat-cave:

I am in mourning, Barry (as we have come to call him posthumously) has moved on to a better place.

It is a small comfort to me that he did not suffer, God took him peacefully as he slept.

We have to try and not be sad at Barry's demise but instead celebrate the way he lived.

That's what I was going to say, call conservation dept or whatever is like that in his area. If you try to raise it, it will die on you. Some areas have a law that says you must contact the local conservation office with sick or injuried wild life. Most areas it is illeagal to keep a wild animal as a pet w/o a permit. Save the bats life and don't try to "help" it yourself, call a professional, it's free.
