Well for one, and this has seriously been proven to me over the years, unless you like a job field DO NOT GO INTO IT!!! if u can!! cause it will ruin ur life, directly and indirectly.

You'll never get rich working for someone else forever....but sometimes its good or even necceasry for you to work for someone else 1st to get rich.

That being said, you're just looking to the Food/restaraunt field?? (btw there are alot of ideas under this category) but just wondering...

    Any other fields??

Lots of people have success with franchises. One guy I know opened up two WingStop chicken places, and he's making lots of $$$. But then, all he has is a couple of *ugh* fast food chicken places. Another guy I know is doing pretty well for himself buying old theater seats, re-upholstering them, and selling 'em at flea markets. I know another guy who buys natural gas from producers and sells it to big factories (like GM or Kimberly Clark). I know another guy who got into seling insurance, and now he's got his own agency. And another guy is a pilot, and another fixes up old houses for re-sale, and another buys cars from the 1970's on eBay and re-sells them. Another guy hawks knives at state fairs. And another guy runs a barbershop.

An awful lot depends on what you want to do . . . run a business that offers something beneficial to your community, or run a business that turns a quick buck. Buy a business that you can hire a manager to run so you can do other things, or get into a business so that you can interact with people yourself, maybe get involved in a business so that you can find better ways of doing things, or maybe you'd want to do everything over the internet so you wouldn't have to deal with people.

Whatever you do, make sure you've got enthusiasm for it, along with a business plan.

    Good luck,

car wash? liquor store? liquor store is ALWAYS in high demand but there are risks along with that and they arent really easy to open. ALSO through high school i worked at a childrens entertainment place with tubes and stuff. Seven bucks to get in and food and stuff...birthday parties go up towards 200 bucks. EASY 20 grand a month with minimal input.

Well, before you buy into a franchise, keep in mind that your opinion of the franchisor (them) may very well slip over the first 5 years or so, until you get to the stage where you're ready to shoot them. Not all companies are like that, though. To weed out the good ones from the bad ones, you've got to talk to several existing franchisees who have been with the company for a while (10 years or so).

Do you have any particular interest in any franchise? Any particular things that you'd like to do with a business? Any limitations? Dislikes?

well im thinking food restaurant a franchise maybe like subway i have had that in mind for while.

you are right once i do want to go forward with alot of research will have to go into it thats for sure..

im hoping to make it a successful business ofcourse and locate it in a great area.
as for costs about 250,000 will be my limit i would have to say..

    as for likes:
    food shops
    coffee shops
    bakeries

towards that field something like oporto even.

i actually dont even mind clothes but i believe that will be difficult to get going.

    as for dislikes:
    everything else hehehe
    car parts
    computers

If you do a coffee shop include internet access. People love internet cafe's..my girlfriends brother managed one and they pulled a lot of money until a starbucks bought them out. Charge for the internet and a tall mocha java machiatto french fraupe whatever fancy name they have for frothy milky coffee is like 4 bucks with about 20 cents cost to the owner. I'd like to hear what you open up though.

Well, here's something you might consider -- http://www.vuu.edu/tfc/index.htm -- a class on franchising. This one looks like it's conducted in Sydney . . . there are probably others, too.

As far as costs of some franchises, I looked into opening up a Subway a few years ago, and you could get a shop up and running for about US $60,000. You had to have another pile of cash on hand afterward, I forget how much, though. A Supercuts franchise was about $80,000, and a McDonald's could be had for about a million. You could get a janitorial services company for $4,000.
I think there's a website somewhere that lists the costs of franchises, and what cash reserves they want you to have . . . try this: http://www.allbusiness.com/franchise/directory.asp

Child care dude. Think about it, in the US people regularly shell out over $400 a month on pawning their little bastards off on perfect strangers while they go to work all day. All you need is a place to set up shop, hire a couple of fat ladies who have no other skills, pay em like $9 an hour if they can pass a piss test. Get some insurance in case on the rugrats gets their head stuck in a garbage can or something. Toss up a couple of swingsets or crap like that. Then you're in business. Profit dude, major profit. If I were in the US and considering a business, I would definitely put some serious thought to this sector.

Dude opening your business is MUCH harder work than you could ever think, unless you have done it before. Make sure you know what your doing; so many people these days go bankrupt etc. Lets say your opening your own business and it costs $100,000 to open, you better have over double that money; so many small things pop up that you never knew could add up so fast. Just my $0.02.

ESPECIALLY food service...you are MARRIED TO IT 24/7. I owned a cheeburger/cheeburger franchise & it was great...startup was HUGE...they took 5% of monthly gross & made good money still. But I worked my A$$ off for 2 years non-stop. when people are off--YOU ARE OPEN..there is NO downtime in retail....especially a walk-in store.
knwoing what I know now.. I would open a pizzeria--keep it small & simple in a perfect location. cash business with a "relatively" low over head & high profit margin.

I actually think the day care idea would work very well. It would have to be in a fast pace city to demand the profits you would want. Expenses wouldnt be too much, arts and crafts, older cheery woman who can make up songs that actually genuinely love their job. A big perk would be having all of those Vtech things there to create "an educational expierence". Not only do you get the kids off their parents back but there in a safe learning atmosphere as well. I figure electric and water wouldnt be any more than running a normal house. Swing sets yada yada. Plus, you can potentially only keep it running mon-fri as a good percentage of parents in high traffic cities work 9-5's monday and fridays. Meaning you as the business owner could ponder upon ideas over the weekend. A good idea for this can also be setting up 2 on oppisite sides of the cities so it would make it convenient for parents not to have to drive from one part of the city to the other to drop off kids, not to mention double the revenue. I honestly think the largest cost of this whole operation would be insurance, considering you dont wanna get screwed.

Hmm...I think im onto something here.

Lets just see some basic math, 10 hours they're there 7-10, say 30 kids. 100 bucks a day. 3,000x5 = 15,000 a week. Subtract costs.

4 workers, 2 shifts of 6 hours each where 2 of these hours interlap to have 4 workers at once to maximize child to worker ratio 4:30.24x10 an hour 240x5 = 1,200 a week for workers.

500 a week for arts and crafts
    200 a week for a electric
    200 a week for water
    50 a week for cable
    1000 a week for insurance.

    Thats not too shabby.

Just to go through a few idea mentioned.

Car wash cost a lot more than that to start up

gym. To make a profitable gym is hard. And if you are doing a gym with 100-200k it will fail. Better of with a curves type place

Food establishment. You better love it. It can work but takes a lot of time and work. Make sure its something you enjoy.

Coffee shop. Good idea. Get a good location and a trendy name

    My idea. Tanning salon.

I was ion the bar business for a long time. I would highly recommend looking in to one of your own. You can do a lot with that much cash in a bar. Plus, you can always make changes and add things as you go; that's the beauty of the bar business. LOw overhead and high revenues......plus it's cash!

i am in flooring it makes alot of cash but i would say make a sports bar woodys wings (about 200k to open it but on the down side is that you MUST open 2 more with in 3 years of eachother i know it sounds stupid but i called and talked to corp office and said that) but just customize it to youe likeings ( boothss big ass TVs make events like if you eat 70 wings you eat for free shit like that) or invest in a small IP and you will be Fooking banking in about 10 years.... if you wanna go into food GL its tough very tough
if you can make a subway they make about 150K profit per year in a mid paced area so you can then branch out into Fast food that will get you rich... i would go with a good times or tacobell both cheaper and when you can open a mcdonalds and then you will just be a super rich dude... OOOORRR you can do what im doing.. (fix er up ers) buy little POS homes and if you are crafty at all you can fix most things your self and boom resell for 20-50k profit and just keep it rolling until you can build homes brand new... (my uncle did this when he was 25 and now has millions) so like i said if you ever worked with your hands you will be in luck in this field
