    Unhappy Work blocking AR.

Well, my work decieded to be a bunch of idiots and blocked AR. They use a program called "surf control." I tried accessing AR through a proxy server to bypass that for afew days, but it's no longer working.

When I try to access the page through a proxy, it never finds the website anymore.

Is there anyother ideas on how to access AR, otherwise I have to wait untill I get home from work at 2:00 am to access this site.

When I go to the office, I take my personal laptop with me which has an integrated 802.11b/g wireless antenna. I can more often than not find an unsecured wireless access point to obtain Internet access. This way all of my Internet traffic never even touches my company's network.

I have had bases block "steroid.com" but not "anabolicreview.com" - both domain names call up the same site. If they are using a DNS blocker, you can try calling up the servers IP directly using http://67.18.108.244/

This has worked for me whenever I was somewhere that I was denied access by ISS.

as much as i hate AOL, if you have an AOL account, sign on to aol over TCP/IP, and then use the integrated AOL browser, it will bypass your company's DNS and should bypass most/all of their security measures...unless they are running some serious stuff this will most likely work(or unless they've blocked aol's ports) if you get really stuck, drop me a PM, i'll work with you, im a network admin at FSU...i know most the tricks =)

Thanks! I'll try going through aol. If I'm on later, then we'll know it worked. I'm just heading out to work right now.

Well, it blocks the ip address, and using it through a aol account.

But it seems that google web accelorator allows it to bypass everything, so I'll have to figure out away to install that maybe? since it doens't give me access to writing on the c drive. I'm going to try running it off my ipod, and see if that works. WIsh me luck.

I'm actually able to get to steroid.com, but not anabolicreview.com or anything starts starts with "forums." When I try to access the forum section, it always blocks me. I'll try the IP address, and hopefully it'll let me in. Thanks for the help. I can't stand not being able to get on here from work. I'm so bored, and get into trouble when I'm not here.

You can use PCAnywhere, GoToMyPC, VNC, or something similar to remotely connect to your home computer, then browse blocked sites from there.

Go to Google Language Tools (http://www.google.com/language_tools) and write the URL of AR (http://forums.steroid.com/index.php) in the "Translate a web page:" box. Then select something like "German to English" and it will open the site in Google server!

No, I've tried that already and it still blocks it.

surf control is a great product, and can block either catagory, or specific domain, or user from accessing a specific domain.. it also has great report generating ability.. so be careful..

Sweet. Some proxies seem to work for me, and others don't.

For some reason google web accelorator does work, and allows me to access this forum. When off though, I can't. Don't really know why, but atleast I'm able to access it now.

Google "Proxy surf anonymous" and you will see several sites that will redircet your Internet browser to the sites that are being blocked. This will get past you content blocker and will also let you surf anonymous. Your work is not blocking certain sites but maybe just filtering key words that are being blocked.
