    Convict army

Why don't we have a army group of convicts. Not saying lifers but maybe to guys who have a chance of parole. Maybe shorten their stay if they join. It would actually be away for them to really repay for they crimes. Also it might teach them some things so they have a chance in society when they get out.

Why because do you really think they are laking the skills now?

Also if you heard on the news that 2 rapist and 1 murder were killed in Iraq instead of 3 regular soldiers. Wouldn't that be better

They need to make them front line GI's. I wouldve loved to have had prisoners lead the front line on d-day rather than our grandfathers...

I agree. Granted all convicts may not be good choices. But out of 2 million we should be able to find a couple thousand that would follow some orders.

Lee Marvin was the only one bad enough to make it work. And he had some problem with only 12 convicts.............

Giving convicts guns does not sound like a good idea.

I dunno maybe it's just me.

like i said not everyone would be a good idea. But out of the 2 million convicts we have there has to be some that it would work with.

Maybe it wouldn't work. Just an idea. But I'd rather see them do something useful then sitting in a jail counting the days to be free.

Make a volunteer thing. But we pick which guys we want out of those.

Maybe only use the guys in a minimum security facilities.

Considering you nothing about me thats its hard for you to assume anything.

And i just made a thread to have something to discuss. I don't know if it would work. But thats what intelligent adults do. They discuss things of different topics to see others points of view and to hopefully learn something.

Thanks you for adding so much to the discussion. Your post added a valuable incite.

You're right I don't know you, but I'd venture a guess that you are not a soldier or anyone who understands what is required of people in the profession of arms.
I find the idea of a modern era "Dirty Dozen" laughable, so I wanted to know if you were willing to serve or lead these convict commandos.
    Sorry if you're insulted.

We do have convicts....well kind of.

Most studies of the psychopath have taken place among prison populations, though it has often been suggested that the psychopath is just as likely to sit on a Board of Directors as behind bars, concealing his true nature behind a well crafted "Mask of Sanity" (also the title of the one of the first definitive studies of psychopathy, written by Hervey M. Cleckley in 1941.)
Again, the 2% of soldiers who can go on killing for 60-120days(cant remember) without rest and not show any symptoms of trauma are those with aggressive-psychopathic behaviour, mostly found in special forces divisions, like the SEALS, Special Forces, SAS, etc.....

And I quote from a special forces soldier (verified online)(not exact words but something like this"

"It takes a criminal mind that can be controlled to go through this"

A criminal mind that can be controlled, someone who has all the traits of psychopaths, but has loyalty and can control his impulses, because 100% full blown psychopaths...cannot and they do not show any emotion other than the basic ones and usually have average intelligence while the Special forces group must be intelligent and display the previous qualities.

If we send them all to the Canadian army, all they will get is a beer, and touque, and a hockey stick to fight with.

Doesn't sound too bad to me.

France has been doing this forever... it's called the "Foreign Legion"...

Send the undocumented aliens and criminals to die off in unpopular conflicts... heck it's worked since 1831.
