money is good over here
always thought it was bad but did some research
£25,000 - £30,000 a year - and thats just a starting salary

Yeah, congratulations on making the jump. I'm still trying to get a job in the fitness industry with my current field. I think the starting salary where I live is probably a little less than that what you posted, but you can definatly make a decent living doing it.
I have spoken to the manager and owner of my current gym and have been offered a training position. Maybe I'll get the balls to make the leap before too long.

I am getting so bored in the industry i am in now. i am an it admin and nowadays my day consists of surfing the web. i know, most people dream of sitting behind a computer and doing jack shit but trust me, its gets boring real fast. i'm the type of person that needs to be challenged constantly or else i become completely apathetic. i was considering personal training.
what motivated you?

I have to agree with tai on this. I train part time and it's not alwas easy to keep business. After people train with you for 10 15 times. They then think there ready to train on there own. You have to keep a flow of new cliantes all the time. That is if you work for a gym.
If you work for your self that is a whole new world. That is what i do. But i would never get rich from it that for dam sure. I make just enugh to pay a few bills.

Should certainly try out for yourself and see whether its for you or not. Give it time as the first few months of growing pains are always a struggle.
Also if you are the type to take things personal (aka sensitive) you might be in for a really long ride. Remember, in general, most people are lazy and not willing to put forth the same effort and committment into their fitness goals as you are. Knowing that beforehand will save you many headaches down the road. Treat their lame excuses as "strictly business." And believe me, they'll have a ton.
Best of luck.

being a PT you can make good money both on the books and off the books if you know what i mean
from what i notice with PT's is appearence seems to sell them to people who dont know much about training...if your huge and lean and "pretty" (this is why tai stopped doing it ) it seems people want you cause they want to be like you ripped, big..ect. just an observation i see at the gymLast edited by aadrenaline; 09-20-2006 at 03:04 PM.

isn't personal training sales of one's services??? and keeping the customer happy thus = more $$$$ ???
sales are great.. but you have to believe in what you are providing..The answer to your every question
