Think about it.. most of the compounds in the doc's office are water based (saline solution.. dex-base sometimes)... What we inject for the most part is oil based.
Oil doesn't 'mix' with water... thus if an oil-based solution is accidentally injected into a vein.. it will displace the equivalent of its mass of the water based carrier (blood) it is injected into.. See where the prob lies? Glob of pure oil travelling the veinous route? Possible collapse of veinous systems.. maybe blockade etc.
A water-based solution if injected directly into the blood stream by accident will diffuse homogenously.. basically causing no prob 'cept quicker delivery time.
So aspirating is more or less essentia when self medicating oil-based solutions.. but not expressly so imo in the doc's office (with the use of water based solutions: flu shots etc)
