i think they know if they hit a vein, also they should know where all the important veins are. Yes doctors should know what they are doing yet i still have my doubts sometimes, i always get another docs opinion

I dont know why they dont. But they should. I dont care if they are a doc, they should aspirate . In fact I bet I do more shots than they do, and I still aspirate. I mean I do more than 1 EVERY day. There must be weeks/months that go by where they havent needed to give someone a shot. I can bet on it.

Than again, some docs do aspirate.

after you insert the pin into your skin, pull back slightly on the plunger before injection....if blood comes into the syringe...you are in a vein.if you see air bubbles or nothing, you're good to inject. COMPRENDE??

i would highly recommend starting. i had gotten lazy and with some shots and sometimes i didnt asperate. well last night i was shooting my left glute it was in kind of a awkard position so i did it without asperating. i finished my 2cc injection and as soon as i pulled it out, my lungs started hurting and i started coughing, i could smell the oil and tast it in my mouth. i felt super weak and started sweating alot. i wont lie, the thought that i might die crossed my mind, but im still here and definitly learned a big lesson.

Never been injected by a doctor, as far as my memory is concerned. It's always been a nurse and he/she has always aspirated.

Isn't 'necessary' for the solutions they inject regularly.

Think about it.. most of the compounds in the doc's office are water based (saline solution.. dex-base sometimes)... What we inject for the most part is oil based.

Oil doesn't 'mix' with water... thus if an oil-based solution is accidentally injected into a vein.. it will displace the equivalent of its mass of the water based carrier (blood) it is injected into.. See where the prob lies? Glob of pure oil travelling the veinous route? Possible collapse of veinous systems.. maybe blockade etc.

A water-based solution if injected directly into the blood stream by accident will diffuse homogenously.. basically causing no prob 'cept quicker delivery time.

So aspirating is more or less essentia when self medicating oil-based solutions.. but not expressly so imo in the doc's office (with the use of water based solutions: flu shots etc)

My Doc kinda flicks it so fast that it doesn't seem like he asperates.

I agree its probably so fast you cant tell. And like Nark said its water based so even aspirating will be faster.
