Question People with Bf's or Gf's..

Do you mind your partner having friends of the opposite sex?

IMO - i don't agree with close relationships of that nature as i think that you give some of yourself to the friend rather than truly engrossing yourself in the relationship you have with your significant other.

That being said i understand friends who one might have known since childhood and completely understand and accept a BF having female friends that they don't spend excess time with.

This just came up on the radio and i was talking about it a few days ago - so i wanted more opinions.

I have always lived by this rule: I won't act jealous or throw accusations 'cause if I think your cheatin' on me... buh-bye!

I have a few buddies who get all jealous and protective and I think it's silly... if a girl might be cheatin' on you - own her before she owns you!

ya, I have a very close female friend who lives in halifax. She calls me every day, we've been close friends for many, many years.

We hang out when we can, and my gf will have to put up with that. She's one of my best friends. Met her on a race track, she was the only girl thwere and not wanted there by most, we became friends and thats it...

Its never been anything sexual, she's engaged (tho her fiance hates me), were just good friends.

that said, i understand, because it would bug me if my gf was hanging out with some guy all the time. My friend and i see eachother like 2-3 times a year tho, so its not a constant thing..

i think it has to do with secrets though.

IMO if a guy tells his gf about his females friends - their existence etc and is evne wiling to introdcue them - it's cool.

Men and women keep secrets about these types of friendships which i think in essence causes all the head aches.

I don't like it as I find in a boy/girl friendship one or the other always develops sxual feelings. I don't have girls that are friends as i think it would upset my partner. She has a male friend who she new from when she was young which is fine by me but i do think he fancies her.

with me, ive tried to have friends as girls, but it always lead to more. the last friendship i had was for two years, i do miss her, more as a friend then lover. her birthday is tomorrow......i cant call her and wish her a happy birthday because i know where it would lead. i guess thats why i wont let my wife have guy friends.

I don't go for all this jealousy shit as I think it is a very destructive emotion. I am confident enough in myself, and with anyone I have been with, for both them and me, to have opposite sex friends!

One thing that most men believe but few women understand is that in 90% of male/female friendships, at some point the man wants to sleep with the woman, at least in friendships where the female is attractive. I understand this fact and I explain it to all the girls I date but they dont believe me. Then they act surprised when one of their good "guy friends" comes on to them.

Snooping is not good and if there is something you absolutely have to know or be sure of you hafta ask. At the end of the day, a possible argument as a result of asking that you think will piss off your partner is better than nagging feelings in your head.

I agree. Man, my girl (who im sorta in a on-off sceanrio at the moment) has stacks of male friends, more than female friends. She's quite a tomboy and says she just prefers the company of guys over women. Now that doesn't bother me but she IS very attractive and I reckon most of her male mates want to **** her. It does suck that a guy wants to be friends with a girl JUST cause she's hot.

My best friend is female. A very attractive one at that. We say "I love you", I call her "Babe", she calls me everyday, etc. All my girlfriends hate her. At first, they pretend not to have a problem with it. But eventually, it comes up. She deals with the same thing. All her bf's hate my fvcking guts.

She's the greatest, and probably the most important person in my life. A sexual relationship is not even an option though. I wouldn't let anything risk the relationship we have now. I'm pretty sure she thinks the same way.

    I don't like it, no.

The girlfriend has a work colleague that texts her, even when he's on holiday. I'm not sure if he texts anybody else or is just bored. He has a girlfriend of his own, so why doesn't he talk to her? She shows me the texts and there's nothing interesting.

Casual friends? No... once she's introduced me. I don't have to like 'em or anything.. but i need to know who you're hanging with so i can know which door to show up at if he fucks up.

Close friends? Depends on if the 'closeness' developed before i arrived on the scene (i.e. before she and i got together).. or if the 'closeness' is a recent development.

Rule of thumb: Childhood buds are 'ok'...

    New found buds want sex.

Even if it's denied in the beginning.. it takes very little for it to evolve into something physical with new found buddies i've found. Something like... your significant other's schedule placing him/her out of reach for extended periods.. loneliness.. Something like recurrent arguments.. lack of attention (for whatever reason).. A close friend of the opposite sex can be an overly comforting shoulder.

    Been there.

Agreed. Like i've found myself talking out my probs with a close female friend.. when the true solution would've been to talk it out with my other. Had to nip that in the bud and let my GF know we need to spend more time together and talk more. Good thing i caught it early.. cus she was on the same page: feeling a little usurped.

I hate it when Im dating someone that is "friends" with there Ex's. That in my opinion is a recipe for disaster, cause if youve dated in the past its cause there was some sexual attracton, and it makes it that much harder to trust the other, Though, im a bad example of any sort of boy girl "just friends" bullshit. I went on course for 3 months for training with the Military, and I came back and the lying tramp that called herself my girlfriend, was 1 month pregnant, the stupid hoe tried to say it was mine!!! I may not be a rocket scientest, but Im not that stupid, I CAN do math. Then I find out it was her "friend" that she would "never" sleep with that got her pregnant. Needless to say, seen him at a bar and pprocceded to beat the living shit out of that dooshbag.

I don't. 'Snooping' only magnifies the imagination.. making mountains out of molehills.

If i hear something (rumour).. i'll ask her about it.

You've at least gotta have that level of trust imo..If not it's time to move on.

I dont mind them having male friends. I have female friends. But they shouldn't do certain things alone. No going out drinking or similar stuff. If there is attraction between each other its bound to lead to something once. Even if its just a kiss. It happened to me many times with girls i've been friends with. Also i never snoop

it really depends on how solid your relationship is and a matter of trust, some people are trust worthy others are not, it all depends on all the factors,if this was an X from the past, i would have a huge problem with that,no matter how much trust i may have

The point in dating is to get to know people, and to determine the types of people you enjoy being with.

a GF/BF is a committment to a relationship... you cannot have a relationship that works if you are out cultivating different relationships..

    so no they can't

it is all about maturity if u cant trust someone u shouldnt be with them,on another note i was in this situation with my wife and ine of her old freinds from school fortunatly for me i am a real good judge of character,he wanted to come over and hang out with her.i met him once and told her he just once one thing the guy has a crush on u she denied it i said ok dont get ur feelings hurt when he try,s to make a move on u.he came over the next day when i was at work and what do u know my wife called me up all pissed off why cause he suggested he wanted to kiss her ,needless to say she thru him out ,damn i hate it when im right at others expense.it hurt her more then anything cause she trusted him.well once again there r very few genuin people in this world.when u find one hold on to them

I have alot of "girl" friends ( I would fuk everyone of them too) and when they get a new boyfriend they bring them by to introduce them to me for my opinion. I give the guy the "quick speech" basically if they ever lay a hand on them I will beat them to death. (never had one touched yet) All of them so far have come by with great respect and understand the bond I have with the girls (Just cause I would hit it doesn't mean I think about dating them, they are hot as fuk but I "know" them too well and get all the chics I can handle) Lots of hot "girl" friends=guaranteed hook ups with their friends, besides dating doesn't work out, I have known most of these girls for years and they know I love them to death. It's funny to hear back how the girls will argue with the boyfriend and the guys will not even call them a bitch out of respect (more like fear) of it getting back to me.

I've been watching the godfather too much

if a guy has very close "girl-friends" while in a full time serious commited relationship, then something is missing or lacking in that relationship...or Vice-versa..friends or acquaintences is one thing......to be confiding or doing things that you wouldnt do if your partner was there is wrong, talking, texting, emailing or whatever. its wrong & decietful.

I beileve in that 100 percent. I use to let my X go out all the time and didn;t care which use to bother other people more then it bothered me ! I just don't get it. If you can't have trust then you can't have a relationship.
